The Best Budget Mini PC Reviewed & Now Only $279

I’ve reviewed a lot of Mini PC’s most of them until recently have been Intel-powered and not powerful. In fact, low powered Gemini Lake ones selling for $200-$250 USD or using older 5th gen Intel’s. Only recently we have seen many companies now release AMD Ryzen 5 power mini PC’s with dual SODIMM slots, NVMe slot support, 2.5″ HDD/SSD bays, HDMI 2.0A, Displayport so it can run two 4k60 displays at the same time.

The mini PC I’ve been looking for with the best performance for the price is this one!

The T-Bao MN25 is one of the best for the price I’ve covered on the channel, no the best for the price so far in 2020. The MN25 now sells for 245 Euros or $279 USD with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage using coupon BGSPTK25 over at Banggood here. This price is only about 60 USD more than those weak Celeron N4100 powered Mini PCs with no upgradeable parts. And for that extra you spend, you gain so so much more with this spec.

T-Bao MN25 In-Depth Video Review:

00:00 – Intro 00:41 – Unboxing 01:05 – Build & design 02:37 – Internals 04:34 – Bios with interesting settings 05:42 – Windows 10 & devices 08:02 – Benchmarks 11:18 – Video playback tests 12:15 – 4k video editing & export test 14:46 – Thermals & fan noise 15:28 – Large word file test 16:31 – Gaming tests (GTA V & CSGO) 17:38 – Linux test 17:59 – Recap with Pros & Cons

Dual-Channel and upgradable RAM

This one comes with two 4GB DDR4 2666Mhz sticks of RAM in dual channel for 8GB total. An Intel NVMe 256GB drive with twice tan SATA3 speeds. And power by the 4 Core 8 Thread Ryzen 2500U. The CPU has a 25W and Vega 8 graphics. Enough power to play demanding video files and even edit 4k video!

Yes, it can even play GTA V with playable FPS. 720p low settings of course.

Vega 8 Graphics are so good at this price point!

The integrated Vega 8 graphics are where it really destroys the Intel integrated graphics. It might be an older chip, but it will play GTA V with decent playable frames at 720p or light titles like CSGO at well over 60 FPS.

The fan noise and thermals are great on this model.

You can even install a 2.5″ drive if you wanted more storage on the cheap or upgrade the NVMe SSD to something faster like a Samsung 970 Evo or double your RAM it’s possible with this unit.

The thermals are great very hard to get it even over 70 degrees C and fan noise is very good unless gaming and then it’s not too bad.

T-bao MN25 Specs:

T-Bao Mini PC MN25 specs:

AMD Ryzen 2500U with Vega 8 GFX
4 cores & 8 threads max turbo 3.6Ghz
8GB of DDR4 2666Mhz RAM included (2x 4GB SODIMM sticks)
256GB NVMe drive (Intel)
Windows 10 Home

USB 2.0 x 2, USB 3.0 x 4

Now Shipping Alldocube Neo X 10.5″ SAMOLED Tablet

My order just shipped for the Alldocube Neo X this is the first Qualcomm powered tablet from Alldocube, it’s never too late to use these chips but the Snapdragon 660 is now an old chipset. The tablet with keyboard is currently selling for 262 euros on banggood.com here

The 10.5″ SAMOLED is the same used in the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6. Samsung’s premium SD855 flagship tablet. It’s fully laminated with a resolution of  2560 x 1600 so it is quite sharp. The chipset used is the dated SD660 as mentioned this is paired up with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5 storage. It does have MicroSD support so at least you can expand the storage.

The tablet supports voice calls with it’s dual SIM LTE support including bands 20 and 28 for European users.

Alldocube Neo X LTE band support:

  • FDD-LTE:B1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/17/20/28
  • TDD-LTE:B40

This tablet also has built-in GPS with hopefully a hardware compass so good for navigation. having reviewed so many of these Chinese tablets in the past I can also review it without even touching it. I’m sure it will only have a Widevine level 3 cert (No Netflix in full HD) and weak speakers (All too common)

Other than these obvious flaws it might be a good tablet, but I hope the price drops even further. Look for my hands-on review in about 2 weeks.

Kaby Lake-R 16GB RAM Metal Laptop For $329

Selling for the price of the Gemini Lake N4100 8GB laptops I’ve been reviewing this new laptop popped up that looks promising as it ships with the Celeron 3867U Intel 8th Gen Kaby Lake architecture and a large 16GB of RAM double what I typically review.

The Lhmzniy A9 14.1″ sells for $329 or 297 Euros. All metal build, backlit keyboard, MicroSD slot, and 2 x USB 3.0 ports. It has a 35Wh battery, wireless AC and the screen is a 1080p 14.1″ TN Panel 🙁 glossy glass covered screen. The SSD config ranges from 128GB to 1TB. 22 x 80mm SATA3 SSD. It runs Windows 10 home, has a 2mP webcam with privacy cover, dual speakers and largesized touchpad.

Kaby Lake R SoC with Intel HD 610 iGPU

The dual-core Kaby Lake R on paper looks poor. Just two 1.8Ghz cores however it’s newer than the Gemini Lake. With a higher TDP of 15W, fan-cooled and better GPU the Intel it’s single-core performance and gaming will outmatch the Gemini Lake Celeron N4100 getting over 2100 vs about 1800-1900 on the Celeron N4100. But due to those 2 cores only, in multi-core benchmarks, it’s about 1500 points lower. Now in real-world use I’ve tested this CPU in and around Windows it does feel slightly quicker. The 16GB of RAM will also help.

There is also a 15.6″ version called the A9 Pro selling for 334 euros. Apart from the TN panel (What a shame), it could a good alternative to the Gemini Lake laptops I’m moving away from reviewing now. I might pick up to review if there is interest. This is also called Feed Me the brand on Aliexpress, both Brand names are stupid if you ask me! It would be some ODM laptop people Chinese companies brand themselves.

Chuwi Hi10 X – 10.1″ Gemini Lake Windows 10 Tablet

Chuwi has a new release coming, the Hi10 X. It’s similar to their old Hi10 models it looks like a rehash of old and new. 10.1″ 1920 x 1200 fully laminated IPS screen with H3 stylus support. Powered by the Gemini Lake (No new Intel chips yet!) with only 6GB of DDR4 RAM and 128GB eMMC. 8GB of DDR4 would have been better of course and the tablet has a full metal unibody build. Two Type-C ports, one supports charging as well as data and the other data only.

The good news is the keyboard dock has two full-sized USB ports USB 3.0 and 2.0 spec. The tablet will sell for $219 USD and due to ship on the 17th this month.

Other specs include 2MP front webcam, 5MP autofocus rear. Wireless AC + BT 5.0 (Intel Wireless 3165 chip no doubt) The battery is another con, just 24Wh but it weighs only 544 grams, as a result, the tablet. Expect only 5 hours or some run time from this.

This to me feels like a release just to use up old parts, screens and keyboards before Chuwi gears up for new 2020 Intel Elkhart Lake chipsets based on 10nm.

Happy New Year & What’s Next

Happy New Year to everyone. So a few have been asking if I have the BMAX S15 and the F6 Plus ordered, yes both are on the way and they will definitely be the last Gemini Lake laptops I’ll be reviewing. Some time in Q1/Q2 we should hear or see even the new Gemini Lake successor the Intel Elkhart Lake by then. Expect it to be a small bump up in performance like the Apollo Lake to Gemini Lake was, I’m not holding my breath Intel will do something drastic with the next-gen SoC. I really want now is to see the Manufactures giving us larger batteries. And hopefully more of the same good designs with improvements like more USB 3 ports, full spec Type-C and no going back to DDR4 4GB RAM only!

Yes the BMAX S15 was ordered and it’s on the way.

We always see the same 37Wh battery cells, consisting of two 5000mah cells. for 10,000mAh in total. But many times now I’ve seen there is room to have a third cell, so 15,000mAh. Then we could have over 10 hours of run time. And I’ll definitely be reviewing the new Elkhart Lake releases once out from Chuwi, Teclast, BMAX, and Alldocube perhaps.

Below is a list of what’s next in the channel in the coming weeks. In no set order:

  • Earbud review
  • Teclast F6 Plus (Due next week with DHL)
  • Roborock S5 Max robot vacuum review
  • BMAX S15 (due in about 10 days I guess)
  • eMove Cruiser eScooter, a review of the new revised model.
  • Possible 3D printer review (Creality)

Possible reviews: Xiaomi Redmibook 13 / Mi Notebook Pro 2020 edition this has been requested a few times. A lot of you have been asking for an Honor Magicbook or Redmibook 14 AMD review. Truth is the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Magicbook I reviewed was disappointing performance-wise a good 20% less than Intel’s offering and poor driver updates etc. I’m not sure I’ll bother again until the AMD Ryzen Mobile offers something a little more in this space.

Also, I post a poll on Twitter if you wanted to see a review of the new Mediatek 1000T powered Oppo Reno 3 or the new Realme X50, both 5G phones. As I guessed not much interest in them. I’ll wait for the new big releases.

As for what’s next with the channel. More of the same, I have no big plans to change no ridiculous 2020 goals to double views and subscribers. Only to enjoy what I’m doing and hopefully, you lot also enjoy the videos and reviews.

Best 11.11 Deals For 2019

It’s 11.11 again when all the Chinese online retail shops post big discounts and deals on their stock. Below are some of the best deals I’ve found on tech I’ve reviewed that I know is good for the price. Here are my picks many of these deals are valid until stock runs out or the next 48 hours so you have to be quick. And if you find a better price or a great 11.11 deal please let us know in the comments!

Recommended sites for good 11.11 tech deals:

Snapdragon 855+ Android flagship phone:

This one’s a great deal for those after a fluid super smooth 90hz AMOLED screen. The OnePlus 7T is a high spec Android phone with one of the best skins/UI’s in the business OxygenOS. I’ve reviewed a lot of phones this year and this one is definitely in my top 3. You can find the blue global version/global ROM 8GB/128GB model for just $489 here. That’s about 441 euros and to buy it locally this exact model is 599 euros from Oneplus.net!

Android 9 4G dual SIM tablet:

Teclast T30 – Helio P70 Android tablet. 1920 x 1200 IPS fully laminated screen 4G dual SIM support with calls, text and GPS. This isn’t a bad tablet at all. The first with the newer Helio P70 which games much better than the laggy Helio X20 series. This tablet sold originally for $200 then $219 and is now the lowest ever at $179.99 here.

The keyboard is $27 extra here which is a stand & keyboard type-cover

Cheapest Gemini Lake laptops with 8GB of RAM

Chuwi’s Lapbook Pro 14.1″ laptop with thin modern-looking bezels will be $289.99 on the 11th, while it lacks power delivery support and a proper spec Type-C port it does have a much better screen than the EZbook X3 Pro and a great keyboard (The new models) For $289.99 it’s worth a look if you don’t care about power delivery type-c charging. Chuwi’s Aliexpress store is where you’ll find it for that price.

The Jumper EZBook X3 Pro has 8GB of dual-channel RAM, backlit keyboard, USB 3.1 Type-C port with display out, data and power delivery support. The build is full metal and it has a 180GB Intel SSD faster than other 256GB brands used. The weakness of this laptop is the 200nit bright screen will be hard to see in daylight and very bright environments. However, indoors it’s perfectly fine for me. The EZbook X3 Pro was $299.99 USD and is now $289.99 here.

Best Gemini Lake Windows 10 laptop (With touch):

This is my favorite one so far the BMAX Y13 with Type-C (full spec) and 8GB of RAM out of all the 8GB Celeron N4100 laptops. It has a handy 360-degree hinge with touch support and the screen is fully laminated with 74% Adobe RGB. Its weakness is no full-sized USB ports, it has only Type-C ports.

$367 At Gearbest on 11.11 here.

$369 USD with coupon BGLAPBX1102 here at Banggood

Teclast M16 – 11.6″ Thin Bezel 4G Tablet

Tecalst’s M16 tablet is coming this month and you can see the bezels look ridiculously slim and too good to be true in the press images. I bet they are photoshopped to look much smaller than real life. This is a Helio X27 tablet so not using the newer and better Helio P70 found the Teclast T30.

The screen is an 11.6″ IPS panel with a 1920 x 1080 resolution so perfect for media. It has 4GB of RAM a 128GB eMMC, MicroSD support, and dual 4G SIM’s with voice calls but the LTE bands are quite limited:

  • TD-LTE:B38/B39/B40/B41
  • FDD-LTE:B1/B2/B3/B5/B8

It’s also running Android 8.0 and not 9.0 for some reason. But the good news is the tablet has GPS and Micro HDMI out that many tablets lack. The battery is 7500mAh and it will sell for $199 here at Banggood.

It has a unibody metal build and supports an optional type-cover style keyboard. Banggood state that it will start shipping on the 18th this month.
