The transaction fee will start on November 1 instead

In the meantime, PayMaya users can transfer money to bank accounts without worrying about the fees yet. However, come November 1, PayMaya will start charging a PHP 10 fee on InstaPay transactions. But, PayMaya to PayMaya money transfers will remain free.

According to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, PayMaya, along with GCash, has been thinking about the InstaPay transaction fee way before the pandemic. When COVID-19 hit, PayMaya decided to hold off on the fee. The BSP said that both PayMaya and GCash could've decided to start collecting transfer fees as early as January but thought against it.

Additionally, BSP explained that for the last months PayMaya amassed operating costs that need to be maintained. Each time you load up your PayMaya accounts different loading outlets charge PayMaya for it while the customers don't feel it.

Xiaomi’s Mi Smart Speaker is bass-heavy and surprisingly inexpensive

Amazon Echo and Google Nest (formerly known as Google Home) have mostly dominated the smart speaker space in India. These speakers are not exactly cheap by domestic standards in India. You’d have to spend anywhere between ₹3,500 ($47.50) to ₹5,000 ($68) to get their smallest speakers — namely, the Echo Dot and the Nest Mini. Xiaomi is aiming to take over that segment by offering better specs at an affordable price with its Mi Smart Speaker. The device is a spec-equivalent to the mid-sized Amazon Echo and Google Nest. Its introductory price is just ₹3,499($47.50), after which it’ll likely increase by a…

Motorola Razr 5G is launching in India: What you need to know

Liquid Mercury Front Opened

Credit: Motorola
  • The Motorola Razr 5G is heading to India.
  • It will make its debut on October 5 and will be available through Flipkart.
  • No pricing info has been released yet, but it could be India’s cheapest foldable phone.

After its global announcement in early September and its US launch earlier this week, the Motorola Razr 5G is now setting its sights on India.

The clamshell foldable phone will make its bow in the country as early as next week, according to Motorola India.

On the face of it, it doesn’t seem Motorola will be nerfing features to fit any particular pricing niche in the Indian market. The 2.7-inch outer display is still present to guard the 6.2-inch folding screen, a design combo that has become the Razr’s calling card.

Although the company doesn’t confirm any other specs, we can likely expect the internals to remain the same, too. This should mean the return of the Snapdragon 765G chipset, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Expect a 2,800mAh battery with 15W charging and a 48MP rear camera, too.

As for the price, we can only posit an educated guess for now. The Razr 5G made its global debut at $1,399 which would tip the phone’s Indian price just over the Rs 100,000 mark. Despite that six-digit figure, it could still be the cheapest foldable phone made available in the country. We’ve seen a slew of discounts in the US since its launch though, so it might follow a similar formula in India.

Thankfully, there’s not long to wait for confirmation. The Motorola Razr 5G will make its debut in the country on October 5, at 12 PM IST (2:30 AM ET), and will retail through Flipkart.

Google skipped Motion Sense on the Pixel 5, but it still has a future

google pixel 4 xl revisited motion sense

  • Google will use the Pixel 4’s Soli radar and Motion Sense gestures in the future.
  • The company hasn’t confirmed if the tech is headed to phones.

Google is not done with its Soli radar chip and Motion Sense feature, even though it skipped them both on the Pixel 5. In an interview with The Verge, Google’s hardware chief Rick Osterloh said that Project Soli and Motion Sense gestures would return in the future.

Google introduced Motion Sense assisted by its Soli radar chip on the Pixel 4. The feature enables a bunch of hand gestures on the phone that allow you to control it without touching the screen. It may have seemed like a gimmick to some users, but our very own Jimmy Westenberg thought it a great addition.

The Soli chip also helped the Pixel 4 recognize your presence and quickly unlock the screen by engaging the necessary biometric sensors. Thanks to this, the Pixel 4 has one of the fastest face unlock systems in the market.

Also read: Soli on the Google Pixel 4: Here’s why it’s a good thing

The main problem was that the Pixel 4 could not be made available in many countries, including India, because of Soli. It requires access to the 60GHz mmWave frequency band which isn’t open for commercial use in many markets.

While Osterloh confirmed that the company would use the tech again in the future, he didn’t specify if it’ll appear on phones. However, a recent FCC filing suggests that Soli-based motion gestures could appear on an upcoming Nest Thermostat. Let’s wait and see what Google has in store.

Google just gave away the Pixel 4a India launch date

Google Pixel 4a screen in hand 4

Credit: David Imel / Android Authority
  • Google just gave away the India launch date for the Pixel 4a.
  • The phone will land in India on October 17.
  • It will go on sale through Flipkart.

Google has finally announced the India launch date for the Pixel 4a. The mid-range Google phone that debuted in the US back in August will reach Indian shores on October 17. Google confirmed the Pixel 4a India launch while replying to a query on Twitter.

It’s possible that Google’s Twitter account jumped the gun because we were initially expecting the company to announce the India availability of the Pixel 4a during the Pixel hardware event that concluded a few hours back. When that didn’t happen, we thought Google would put out an official Pixel 4a India launch announcement at a later date. Looks like the cat is finally out of the bag.

Google Pixel 4a India Launch Date

Where to buy the Google Pixel 4a in India and for how much?

The Google Pixel 4a will be made available in India through Flipkart. The e-commerce platform has already put up a dedicated page for the phone on its website. However, it doesn’t mention the October 17 launch date just yet.

The Pixel 4a is a mid-tier smartphone that features the Snapdragon 730 chipset. Unlike its recently launched successors — the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 — the phone does not support 5G connectivity. Not that India has any 5G networks to speak of. The good thing is that it comes with the same primary camera as the more premium Google phones so expect to take some quality photos with the device.

It’s also cheaper than the new Google phones at $349. This translates to somewhere around Rs. 25,000 in India. However, Google phones are usually marked up in India compared to their international counterparts, so the phone could cost a bit more than the direct price conversion.

The Pixel 4a will launch in India in a single 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model. Buyers will also get three-month free trials of YouTube Premium and Google One with the phone.

Thinking of waiting for the Pixel 4a 5G or the Pixel 5 instead? Don’t. Google has already announced that it won’t launch the phones in India.

GCash delays implementation of bank transfers charging fees to November 1

GCash's website revealed that the PHP 15 fee required for bank transfers would be effective starting November 1 instead of October 1.

Starting November 1, 2020, a PHP 15 fee will be charged per transaction.

This means that those who use GCash, whether personal or business, will enjoy an extra month of FREE bank transfers to any bank.

As a quick recap,
BSP (Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas) earlier urged banks to waive online transaction fees to encourage Filipinos to use the safer contactless online banking amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, it is supposed to end today October 1. The Bankers Association of the Philippines shared many banks would resume charging for online transactions using InstaPay by October. InstaPay is a platform that lets banking clients transfer up to PHP 50K per transaction.

There is no word from rival PayMaya if they will delay bank transfer fees yet.

We'll keep you guys posted.

Apple Suggests Restoring iPhone and Apple Watch to Fix Excess Battery Drain or Missing GPS Data

Shortly after the release of iOS 14 and watchOS 7, many users ran into problems with their iPhone and Apple Watch.

Multiple online support threads including our own found GPS data was not being properly recorded during activities. The issue appeared to affect all models of Apple Watches.
In the majority of cases, users record a workout on their watch while leaving their ‌iPhone‌ at home, but when they later look at the Activity app it only shows the workout's starting point on the GPS map, and nothing else.
In addition, some users have been reporting excess battery drain of their Apple Watch, ‌iPhone‌ or both under ‌iOS 14‌ and ‌watchOS 7‌. In the support threads, the unofficial fix seemed to be unpairing and restoring your Apple Watch. Jack Taylor from our forums reported resolving both issues with this method:
Both the GPS and severe battery drain issues on ‌watchOS 7‌ were fixed for me simply by in-pairing and re-pairing my watch. Both issues resolved themselves immediately after as noted in many of the support groups
It appears that Apple has adopted this advice as the official solution to this problem. In a newly published support document titled If you're missing Workout GPS routes or Health data after updating to ‌iOS 14‌ and ‌watchOS 7‌, Apple writes that users may see the following issues after upgrading to ‌iOS 14‌ and ‌watchOS 7‌:

Possible Symptoms

  • Your workout route maps are missing in the Fitness app on ‌iPhone‌ for previous GPS-enabled workouts from your Apple Watch.

  • The Activity, Heart Rate, or other health-related apps fail to launch or load data on your Apple Watch.

  • The Fitness app or Health app fail to launch or load data on your ‌iPhone‌.

  • The Health app or Fitness app is reporting an inaccurate amount of data storage on your ‌iPhone‌.

  • The Activity app is reporting an inaccurate amount of data storage on your Apple Watch.

  • Your environmental sound levels data or headphone audio levels data from Apple Watch is missing in the Health app on ‌iPhone‌.

  • Increased battery drain on your ‌iPhone‌ or Apple Watch.

If you are experiencing two or more of these symptoms, Apple suggests unpairing your Apple Watch, backing up both your ‌iPhone‌ and Apple Watch, wiping both devices and restoring from backup. Apple provides steps to accomplish these tasks in their support document which was published today.

iOS 14 Favorites Widget: How to Make a Replacement With Shortcuts

In iOS 14, Apple overhauled widgets and introduced an option for adding ‌widgets‌ to the Home Screen, but in the process, a well-loved Favorites widget that existed in iOS 13 was removed.

The Favorites widget let users set certain contacts and contact methods as favorites that were easily accessible, so you could, for example, add a favorite option for messaging Eric or calling Dan, with those actions executed with a tap.

Why the Favorites widget was removed is a mystery and it could be a simple oversight with Apple planning to reintroduce it later, but for now, those who relied on the widget can recreate its functionality with Shortcuts. It takes some effort, but it may be worth the time investment if you often relied on your Favorites.

Creating a Favorites Shortcut

Making a shortcut that replicates the behavior of the Favorites widget isn't too tough, but if you want multiple favorite options, you'll need to create a separate shortcut for each one in the Shortcuts app.

  1. Open the Shortcuts app.
  2. Tap on the "<- Shortcuts" area in the upper left hand corner.
  3. Tap on the folder icon in the top right to create a new folder. Your favorites shortcuts need to be in a folder if you want to use them with the Shortcuts widget.
  4. Name the folder ("Favorites" in our case) and choose an icon.
  5. Tap on the new folder ("Favorites") and then tap the "+" icon to start creating shortcuts.

After this step, there are slightly different Shortcut creation methods that can be used to create quick contact options for calling, FaceTiming, and messaging someone.

Making a Shortcut to Call Someone

  1. Tap Add Action and then search for "Phone" or "Call."
  2. Tap the Phone app.
  3. Tap on one of the suggested contacts that Shortcuts offers or tap on the "+" button to select a different contact.
  4. Make sure the Shortcut you've created says Call [Contact Name].
  5. Tap Next.
  6. Give the Shortcut a name. ("Call John" in our case)
  7. Tap the icon to the left to the name to select both a color and an icon for your Shortcut.
  8. Tap "Done."

After you tap Done, your shortcut to make a phone call to one of your contacts will be listed in the appropriate folder in the Shortcuts app. To activate it, just tap it and it will automatically call the intended person. Repeat these steps for anyone you want to create a call shortcut for.

Making a Shortcut to FaceTime Someone

  1. Tap Add Action and then search for "FaceTime" or "Call."
  2. Tap the ‌FaceTime‌ app to get to the Shortcut editing options.
  3. Tap on "‌FaceTime‌" to select either standard ‌FaceTime‌ or ‌FaceTime‌ Audio.
  4. Tap on the [Contact] blank to select a contact from the list.
  5. Make sure the Shortcut you've created says ‌FaceTime‌ [Contact Name].
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Give the Shortcut a name.
  8. Tap the icon next to the name to select both a color and an icon for your Shortcut.
  9. Tap "Done."

When you tap this Shortcut, it will initiate a ‌FaceTime‌ call to the person that was added as the contact.

Making a Shortcut to Message Someone

  1. Tap Add Action and then search for "Messages."
  2. Tap on "Send Message."
  3. Tap on the [Recipients] blank to select a contact.
  4. Type in the name of the person you want to be able to message.
  5. Make sure the Shortcut you've created says Send "Message" to [Contact].
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Give the Shortcut a name.
  8. Tap the icon next to the name to select both a color and an icon for your Shortcut.
  9. Tap "Done."

Tapping the finished Shortcut will open up the Messages app with a compose window for the person who you added as your target contact. Note that if you want to send a message to more than one person, just type in multiple names at the part where you're entering the name of your contact.

Adding the Shortcuts Favorites Widget to Your Home Screen

Once you've created all your shortcuts for quickly sending a message, calling, or FaceTiming your contacts, you're ready to add a widget that can be accessed from the widget interface or right from the ‌Home Screen‌.

  1. Go to the iPhone's ‌Home Screen‌.
  2. Swipe over to where you want to place your new Favorite Widget.
  3. Press and hold on the ‌Home Screen‌ to enter "Jiggle" Mode, and then tap the "+" button in the upper left hand corner.
  4. Search for Shortcuts and tap the icon.
  5. Choose the widget you want. If you made a single favorites Shortcut, tap the single option. If you have two to four, tap the size with four, and choose eight if you have more.
  6. Tap Add Widget.
  7. Tap on the widget to customize it.
  8. Tap on the folder where you put all your favorites shortcuts.
  9. Tap out of the interface and tap "Done."

That's all there is to it. Once the Shortcuts widget is set up with the appropriate folder that contains all of your contact shortcuts, a tap on any one of the widget options will initiate the action right from the widget interface, just like the prior favorites widget.

Note that the Shortcuts widget has limited space when it comes to names, so you may need to shorten some of the Shortcut names you've created to make it clear who's going to be contacted if you have multiples.

If you need more detailed instructions on adding ‌widgets‌, see our dedicated Widgets how to.

Favorites Still in the Contacts App

Just to be clear, it's the Favorites widget that's been removed, not the Favorites functionality in its entirety. You can still create and access your previously made favorite options in the Phone app under the "Favorites" tab if that's easier than making a whole bunch of Shortcuts.

For more on how to make use of ‌widgets‌ and the new ‌Home Screen‌ changes in ‌iOS 14‌, make sure to check out our widget how to and our Home Screen guide.

Chromecast with Google TV vs the “old” Chromecast series

Google Chromecast with Google TV on table straight down

Credit: David Imel / Android Authority

In 2013, Google launched the first version of its Chromecast TV dongle. It was designed to cast smartphone apps, including video streaming apps, to big-screen televisions. Seven years later, the market for streaming TV apps has changed, and Google is changing with it. Today, it officially announced Chromecast with Google TV.

So what are the similarities and the differences of Chromecast with Google TV vs Chromecast? Good question.  As you will see, the original Chromecast is still very useful. However, the new Chromecast with Google TV offers a lot more, and it’s not that much more expensive.

Chromecast with Google TV vs Chromecast: Features

Third-gen Chromecast

Back in 2013, smart televisions were still something of a novelty. The first Chromecast allowed TV owners to quickly turn it into a smart television, and inexpensively. If you had a smartphone, and your apps supported Chromecast, you could connect the dongle to your TV’s HMDI port. Then you could cast and watch movies, play games, and more from your phone to your TV.

Later versions of Chromecast did basically the same thing as the original. However, the current third-generation Chromecast streamed smartphone content at 1080p resolution. The more expensive Chromecast Ultra. which launched in 2016, increased the streaming resolution to 4K. It also added support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision video formats and an Ethernet port. It also allowed users to stream high-end PC and console games to their TV via the Google Stadia service.

The new Chromecast with Google TV is a very different device. While it can still cast smartphone apps to your TV, it has Android TV built-in as well. That means you can watch streaming TV and apps directly, with no smartphone required. It comes with its own hardware remote for controlling those apps. It also supports Google Assistant to control apps with your voice, again via the remote.

In fact, for this product, Google has installed a new UI on top of Android TV. That’s where the “Google TV” part of the brand comes in. It allows you to watch movies and TV shows across several streaming apps and services on one screen, rather than switching between apps. It’s very similar to what you will find on the Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV apps. The device supports up to 4k resolution, along with HDR10, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision video formats.

Read more: Google TV – All you need to know

Unfortunately, the new Chromecast with Google TV does not yet support the Google Stadia game streaming service. That support is supposed to be added sometime in 2021. If you want Stadia gaming on your big-screen TV right now, you need to either keep or purchase the Chromecast Ultra.

One other minor addition to Chromecast with Google TV are color choices. You have snow, sunrise, and sky colors to pick from.

Chromecast with Google TV vs Chromecast: Price

The current third-generation Chromecast is available for $29.99, while the Chromecast Ultra is priced at $69. The Chromecast with Google TV is on sale now in the US for $49.99.

Which one should you buy?

If you own a 1080p TV, and want an inexpensive way to stream video and other content on your television, the regular Chromecast is your best best. If you want to try out Stadia game streaming, get the Chromecast Ultra. However, if you have a 4K television, and want a better movie and TV show streaming experience without the need for a smartphone, Chromecast with Google TV is a must.

Seattle’s Uber and Lyft drivers will get a minimum wage from next year

Regulators in Seattle have become the second US city to put legislation in place that should guarantee gig-working drivers for Uber and Lyft get paid a minimum wage. The Seattle City Council voted unanimously to ensure that Uber and Lyft drivers earn at least $16.39 per hour, which is the city’s legal minimum wage, GeekWire reports. Seattle’s new legislation, which is reportedly modelled after similar rules in New York City, requires gig-working cab drivers to get an additional $0.56 per mile when a passenger is in their vehicle. This is on top of the per mile rate that’s used to…

Realme 7 series is heading to Europe with one key difference

Realme 7 showing camera

Credit: Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority
  • The Realme 7 series will launch in Europe in October.
  • Both the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro will be offered initially in the UK.
  • There is one big tweak to the Realme 7 to be aware of, though.

After launching in India earlier this month, the Realme 7 series is heading to Europe. The brand’s two mid-range players – namely the Realme 7 and Realme 7 Pro – will enter the UK market in October with some notable differences between the two, and their Indian counterparts.

Starting with the Realme 7, the Mediatek Helio G95 chipset is retained from the Indian launch version, with the 6.5-inch 90Hz refresh rate LCD also making a return. The phone’s 5,000mAh battery can be topped up using Realme’s 30W Dart Charge system. But the big change comes to the camera department.

While the Realme 7 in India packs a 64MP primary camera on its back, the version heading to the UK features a 48MP sensor. The reason for the tweak isn’t immediately apparent, but it may be a bid from Realme to better differentiate the 7 and 7 Pro.

realme 7 pro - best phones under 20,000 rupees

Credit: Realme

The European Realme 7 Pro retains the 64MP IMX682 primary camera and also packs a 32MP selfie snapper. Both are carried over from the Indian launch version. Also reprising their roles on the 7 Pro is a 6.4-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 720G chipset, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W SuperDart Charge. The latter is said to top up the battery in 34 minutes.

Beyond the specs snapshot Realme provided, it’s unclear what else the brand may have tweaked for European audiences. We expect an 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP monochrome, and 2MP macro camera to supplement the primary snappers on both phones. It’s also likely that both will retain their headphone jacks, Wi-Fi 5 capabilities, and Bluetooth 5 support.

Realme will confirm further details of both phones during a virtual event on October 7 at 9:30 AM GMT (5:30 AM ET). Expect pricing and availability details to follow.

Heavily inspired by classic digital watches of old with some modern touches, the Neo sports a 1.2-inch monochrome LCD display housed in a chunky plastic body.  The always-on screen should allow for easy reading in direct sunlight but also sports a backlight for reading in dimmer environments.

The screen doesn’t support touch inputs though, so you’ll have to navigate its software using four physical buttons mounted on its flanks. These details likely add to its long battery life. Huami claims typical users will see around four weeks between charges from the 160mAh battery. If you use the watch sparingly, that figure can be extended to well beyond a month.

The Neo also seems to be a fairly capable fitness tracker on paper, featuring around-the-clock heart-rate monitoring, activity tracking, sleep tracking, and 5 ATM water resistance. There’s no onboard GPS for avid runners though, but the Neo does support basic call and message notifications.

The Amazfit Neo is currently priced at 279 yuan (~$40) in China but is also available for $49 on Amazfit’s AliExpress store.

Request for Support: Error code: 2S119/1

Hello Good People of iOSGods, I have been trying multiple times since Saturday when I learn that there is a Mod Menu Hack for the game. I know I am installing it the correct way since I also used other same .deb file for other games. I have never encountered this error with my other installed games. I open the app as usual and a banner comes up asking me to log in to use the hack. I log in with my credentials then it brings me to this error page. This keeps coming up and I am unable to use the hack. I tried researching this topic to check if any solutions were provided so I followed everything. Here are the list of troubleshooting I did: Use default Wifi Use default Wifi and change DNS settings Use default Wifi and changing proxy settings Reset my Wifi Router and reconnected Connected to a 3 different Wifi router/signal/host Connected to a 3 different Wifi router/signal/host and changing DNS settings Connected to a 3 different Wifi router/signal/host and changing proxy settings Connected using my Mobile Data Connected using my Mobile Data and changing DNS settings Connected using my Mobile Data and changing proxy settings Connected via VPN : I did this 6 times using different servers from different continents United States : North America Brazil : South America Germany : Europe Japan : Asia Singapore : Southeast Asia Australia : Australia Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Game App (did this in both unjailbroken and jaibroken state) Uninstalling/Reinstalling the .deb file (did this in both jailbroken and safe mode state) Used iCleaner every now and then Turn off Ad/Content Blockers in Safari App Clear Cache/Cookies in Safari App Uninstalling/Reinstalling the Safari App Here are the things I am not going to do for just one game: Factory restore/reset my idevice Restore RootFS and rejailbreaking (very risky even with the jailbreak tweak application Succession) I am running out of options on my end. I am writing this so you can advise anything on your side. My phone may no longer be the issue but on your end I supposed. Also, I am wondering if this hack is still supported since the topic is closed. But it has a Recommended Post of "Updated to All Versions. Our thoughts

Like what we previously mentioned, the MateBook 13 is a near-complete package that you can carry anywhere while giving good overall performance because of its capable specs and good display.

It even has
an outstanding build quality, USB-C 65W fast charging, and an attractive price tag of PHP 65,990 (i5) and PHP 72,990 (i7).

For us, the Huawei MateBook 13 is a capable laptop on its own that makes it a good choice for working and studying from home as it offers nearly a complete package. It is handy for productivity apps for both work and school like Microsoft Office and can handle heavier workloads like the Adobe Creative Suite.
