Nokia launches its first smart TV in India

Nokia smart TV Flipkart sale pageFlipkart

Nokia is known for its smartphones, not for its smart TVs. Today, it looks like the company is trying to change that as it releases its first-ever smart TV in India.

Retailing for Rs. 70,999 (~$997) on Flipkart, it looks like the device will be available for a massive 40% discount when it launches December 10 — Rs. 40,999 (~$590).

The TV is sleek and modern, featuring an integrated JBL soundbar and Android TV under the hood. The display is a 55-inch 3,840 x 2,160 4K panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, 400 nits peak brightness, and a 178-degree viewing angle. It uses an ADS panel, which is quite similar to IPS displays.

To power that all, this Nokia smart TV comes with the Cortex-A53 quad-core CPU, Mali-450 GPU, 2.25GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi. For ports, you get three HDMI ports and two standard USB ports.

Since the TV isn’t available yet, we haven’t taken it for a spin. Though, we’re really excited to see what Nokia brings to the table with this device. Hopefully, this isn’t the only smart TV from Nokia, and we will see other offerings available outside of India.

13 years in a row

As a quick recap, The "Best Taiwan Global Brands" survey is organized by the Industrial Development Bureau of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and conducted by Interbrand and Taiwan Institute of Economic Research.

Its evaluation system is based on Interbrand's annual "Best Global Brands" ranking, applying quantitative financial analysis and qualitative role-of-brand and brand-strength analyses to assess a brand's true value.

The distinction shows Transcend's commitment to quality as well as the company's competence.

This makes the company remain focused on developing high-performance and professional-grade storage devices while looking for additional market opportunities.

In fact, Transcend launched several products including the MTE220S PCIe M.2 SSD and the ESD350 portable SSD with high data speeds.

On the other news, Transcend said that it will use its resources to support national youth sports events to help the next generation's well-being.

Realme will be one of the first to use Snapdragon 865, 765

To recall, Snapdragon 865 the flagship chip of the company that promises new 865 to deliver 25 percent improved performance versus previous-gen Snapdragon 855. It is also a chip that is compatible with 5G if you will pair it with Snapdragon X55 5G modem.

On the other hand, Snapdragon 765 is a mid-range chip that comes in two versions, a 4G variant and an edition with built-in 5G.

Realme didn't specify the what phone will be powered by SD865 and SD765, but there are speculatitions that it could be the recently leaked Realme X50 5G.

Realme X50 5G is a phone with dual punch-hole screeen that might use the Snapdragon 735G processor. But since, there's no SD735G yet, there's a chance that the rumor mill could have gotten it wrong and it is the SD765 5G instead.

The device is expected to launch this December 2019. Now, again, let's wait and see if our speculations our correct and whether it will launch here in PH or not.
