Redmi K30 all but launched thanks to new leak and official teasers

The Redmi K30 is launching tomorrow (December 10) and leaks about the phone are unrelenting. We recently saw some evidence regarding a 4G variant of the Redmi K30. We’ve also seen some official photos and publicity posters of the device in the past few weeks.

Now, a new hands-on video of the Redmi K30 has appeared on Chinese social media platform Weibo. Moreover, Xiaomi itself has given out a bunch of information about the phone in the form of official teasers.

Let’s talk about the leaked video first. As you can see above, the hands-on clip is just a few seconds long but clearly shows a Redmi K30 series phone owing to the distinctive camera housing.

We can see dual selfie cameras upfront, nestled in a pill-shaped housing on the right corner of the screen. Thin bezels surround the display, with the exception of a slightly thicker chin. The coin-shaped quad camera housing at the back of the phone matches previous poster leaks.

The clip also confirms the presence of MIUI 11 on the phone.

Official Xiaomi teasers

Xiaomi also left no stone unturned in teasing the Redmi K30 this past weekend.

In one of its Weibo posts, the company confirmed the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C port. Another official teaser from Xiaomi revealed machine-translated features like “5G dual-frequency GPS” and “1,217 ultra-linear speakers.”

Besides confirming more K30 features, Xiaomi also posted multiple video commercials for the phone, revealing its color variants. Looks like the phone will come in light purple, dark purple, hot pink, and white colorways.

As for the specs, we already know that the Redmi K30 5G will feature the Snapdragon 765G chipset. It will get a 6.67-inch display and a 4,500mAh battery. The primary camera setup features a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. On the front, a 20MP selfie camera is said to accompany a depth sensor.

Apart from a few missing specs, all that’s left to know about the phone is its price and availability, which will be revealed tomorrow.

The Entrepreneur PR series is the company's entry-level embroidery machine that is aimed at small businesses. It features different colors, a large embroidery area, and easy-to-use positioning camera sensor, and a touchscreen interface with built-in editing and design preview functionality. It can be used to design shirts, uniforms, towels, caps, and more. The machine itself does not take much space as well.

More showcase events are scheduled for the early parts of 2020 where business owners and aspiring ones can see the Brother Entrepreneur embroidery machines in action.

Epic tipped to submit Fortnite to Play Store: Will Google make an exception?

Mega-popular video game Fortnite came to Android last year, but it didn’t land on the Google Play Store. Instead, the multiplayer shooter had to be side-loaded from publisher and developer Epic’s website.

Things could be changing though, as 9to5Google reports that Epic is planning to submit Fortnite to the Google Play Store soon. Epic is apparently submitting the game with its own payment platform, as opposed to adopting Google’s payment infrastructure.

The Fortnite developer made the decision to skip the Play Store due to Google taking a cut of revenue, traditionally pegged at roughly 30%. Instead, Epic keeps 100% of the cash when gamers spend money on virtual items and emotes in Fortnite.

All apps submitted to the Play Store are required to use Google’s payment infrastructure if they offer in-app purchases though. So it’s clear that Epic is hoping Google will make an exception. Unfortunately for Epic, it seems like the search giant might not be willing to bend the rules for Fortnite.

It certainly sounds like Google doesn’t want to make an exception for Epic, but Fortnite coming to the Play Store would make it the more secure installation method in theory. The installer downloaded via the Fortnite website had a major security flaw upon launch, theoretically allowing hackers to remotely install malicious apps on a victim’s device. The web-based install method also opens the door for phishing attacks and other schemes, fooling users into thinking they’re on Epic’s website.
