Samsung announces Odyssey G7 and G9 QLED gaming monitors

Ahead of its CES 2020 show, Samsung announced two new curved gaming monitors, the Odyssey G7 and G9.

Odyssey G9 is available in a 49-inch curved QLED panel while the G7 is available in 27 and 32 inches. Samsung highlighted that the gaming monitors are the first-ever to use high-performance 1000R curvatures.

The G9 highlights a new glossy white exterior and an Iron Man-like glowing infinity core with 52 colors and five lighting effect options. It is also the first DQHD (Dual Quad High-Definition) gaming monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, 32:9 aspect ratio, a deep and immersive 1000R curvature, and a peak brightness of 1000 cd/m2.

The G7, on the other hand, has matte black exterior, color-changing core, QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, and HDR600 VA panel are complemented by a 600 cd/m2 peak brightness. It also uses a QLED panel with Quantum dot technology for a wide range of color and great sunlight legibility.

Both monitors have been certified by TÜV Rheinland for eye comfort, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and Adaptive Sync on DP1.4.

Samsung said that the new gaming monitors will be available globally from Q2 2020.
There's no word regarding the price tag yet, but do not expect them to be cheap.

To bolster its FREE engraving service, Apple revealed in its website that you can now have the option to engrave an emoji to AirPods and AirPods Pro cases.

Apart from engraving names, initials, phone numbers, or dates, those who will purchase an AirPods at Apple's website can now engrave 31 different types of emojis on the cases of their new TWS earphones.

Some of the emojis included are smileys, approve sign, fist bump, robot, unicorn, ghost, robot, alien, bear, cat, skull, star, heart, dragon, dog, poop, and more.

The Verge noted that you cannot engrave both text and emoji on your AirPods cases though.

We hope that Apple will have an even more flexible engraving option in the near future though. Maybe they can add more animals? Android logo? Just kidding!

Samsung today set the stage for the Samsung Galaxy S11. The new flagship phone family, which may go by the name Galaxy S20, will mark its debut on February 11 in San Francisco at Unpacked 2020.

The company tipped its hand a recently thanks to a leaked video spotted by XDA Developers. The video depicts two squarish shapes moving beneath a cover and eventually emerging as part of Samsung’s Galaxy logo with the February 11 date highlighted below.

Even though Samsung Unpacked 2020 is official, the company is still playing things close to the vest. The video merely teases that there might be more than one phone on deck. Obviously the S11 family, which is expected to consist of the Galaxy S11, S11 Plus, and S11e — mirroring the 2018 S10 lineup — will be the meat-and-potatoes served at Unpacked.

It’s possible the second device could be the Galaxy Fold 2. Samsung hinted that it is already work on such a device. The Fold 2 may more closely resemble the Motorola Moto Razr than it does the original Galaxy Fold.

Samsung said it will “unveil new, innovative devices that will shape the next decade of mobile experiences.”
