Display - The Redmi Note 9S has a 6.67-inch 2.5D curved FHD+ LTPS screen with 2400 x 1080 resolution and 395 ppi pixel density. 

The realme 6 Pro has a 6.6-inch 2.5D FHD+ LCD screen with 2400 x 1080 resolution at 519 ppi pixel density, 90Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Realme 6 Pro has the advantage here with a faster refresh rate for a smoother experience and Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Redmi Note 9S back and front design

Specs - For performance, Redmi Note 9S has the 8nm 2.3GHz Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor, Adreno 618 GPU, up to 6GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB expandable storage, and 5,020mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

Realme 6 Pro has the 8nm 2.3GHz Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor with, Adreno 618 GPU, up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 expandable storage, and a 4,300mAh with 30W Flash Charge.

In terms of CPU and GPU, it is a tie. However, Redmi Note 9 Pro has a bigger battery while the realme 6 Pro has up to 8GB of RAM, and faster charging solution.

Realme 6 Pro front and back design

Cameras - The Realme 6 Pro has a quad-camera setup with 64MP f/1.8 Samsung GW1 w/ EIS + 8MP f/2.3 119-degree ultra-wide-angle + 12MP w/ 20x digital zoom + 2MP f/2.4 w/ 4cm macro lens with LED flash. It also has a 16MP f/2.1 Sony IMX471 + 8MP f/2.2 105-degree ultra-wide-angle dual selfie sensors.

Redmi Note 9S has a quad-camera setup with a combo of 48MP f/1.79 Samsung ISOCELL GM2 w/ PDAF, EIS + 8MP 119-degree ultra-wide-angle + 5MP f/2.4 2cm macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth with dual-tone LED flash. It also has a 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera with AI HDR.

Both devices have quad cameras at the back. However, realme 6 Pro has a 64MP main sensor compared to Redmi Note 9 Pro's 48MP sensor. Both devices feature the same variants of lenses. Both have EIS and an LED flash.

For selfies, realme 6 Pro has dual selfie camera setup compared to Redmi's single.

Other features - Redmi Note 9 Pro has dual-band WiFi, 4G LTE, fingerprint sensor, USB-C port, Bluetooth 5, splash resistance, and dual SIM slots.

The realme 6 Pro also has dual-band WiFi, 4G LTE, fingerprint sensor, face unlock, splash resistance, Dolby Atmos, and USB-C port.

Our thoughts

Based on specs, the Realme 6 Pro has a better overall package thanks to its 90Hz screen, larger RAM option, 64MP main cam, and dual selfie-cam.

Redmi Note 9 Pro is no slouch as it has the same CPU and GPU and a larger 5,020mAh battery.

The international price tag realme 6 Pro is a bit more expensive. The base 6GB/64GB version is priced at INR 16,999 or around PHP 11.7K out straight conversion.

Meanwhile, the 4GB/64GB edition of the Note 9S retails for RM 799 or around PHP 9.1K. The 6GB/128GB version costs RM 899 or around PHP 10.3K out of straight conversion.

LG to unveil G9 this March with 5G chipset and larger screen

LG is reported to launch G9 to be a mid-range device that is powered by a Snapdragon 765 chipset and a 1080p OLED display.

Based on a Korean report, LG is widening the gap between the G-series and V-series to improve its sales profit. It is changing its marketing strategy by selling LG V60 and other premium phones in North America and Western Europe.

Meanwhile, the tech giant plans to market G9 and other cheaper flagships in other regions, including South Korea.

It said that the G9 ThinQ is going to be released as a mid-ranger with SD765G chipset, probably a larger screen compared to its predecessor LG G8. Perhaps, the device will sport a 6.7 to 6.9 inches pf 1080p OLED display.

Moreover, it will allegedly feature a quad-camera set-up on the back However, the final design will be a bit different than the one that leaked previously. Also, the G9 will pack a 4,000mAh battery and a 3.5mm headphone jack with a Quad DAC.

The official launch of LG G9 ThinQ is said to be at the end of March with a selling price of KRW 900,000 (more or less PHP 36.6K)  As this is claimed to have the same pricing as G8, the 5G connectivity is not yet considered in the cost.
