WhatsApp now lets you reverse search viral messages to check if they’re bogus

WhatsApp has been testing features to let you perform reverse search images and text of the message to control misinformation. Now, the company is rolling out the function to let you search a message on the web to check if a frequently forwarded message has correct information or not. Now, you’ll see a magnifying glass next to frequently forwarded messages. You can tap on that icon to launch a search on the web to see if it’s some kind of myth that’s doing the rounds. Notably, WhatsApp considers messages that have been forwarded more than five times in a chain…

New Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 renders leave little to the imagination

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Evan Blass 1

  • New leaked renders have shown off the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 from a variety of angles.
  • The images show punch-hole cutouts on both screens.
  • All eyes are on Samsung to unveil the device tomorrow (August 5).

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is expected to be shown off tomorrow at the company’s Unpacked event. However, we’ve already seen leaked images of the device in prior weeks.

Now, veteran leaker Evan Blass has posted a series of official-looking renders on his Twitter account, showing off the foldable phone from a number of angles and in two colorways. Check out a few images below (open them in a new tab for a closer look).

The renders show center-mounted punch-hole cutouts on both the external and folding displays, seemingly putting to rest any talk of a huge notch, waterdrop notch, or under-screen selfie camera. It still looks like we’ve got a crease on the folding display too.

We also get a look at the rear of the foldable once again, showing a Note 20-style rear camera design. Finally, we get a look at the top and bottom of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, hosting speaker grilles and a USB-C port. So if you were inexplicably holding out for a 3.5mm port here, well, you’ll be disappointed.

Recent reports point to a foldable phone that’s roughly on par with its predecessor when it comes to pricing, but we’ll need to wait until tomorrow for news on this front.

Why sustainable start-ups should consider corporate venture capital first

Urgent issues like the climate crisis, environmental degradation threatening millions of species, social inequality and other challenges mean that the global economy needs to immediately transform itself to become sustainable. Sustainable start-ups are showing us the way with smart business models having economic, social and environmental value. Toronto’s Ripple Farms is an example demonstrating the power of aquaponics to sustainably produce organic greens and seafood throughout the year. To connect urbanites with the land, the company’s business model combines product offerings with education on urban agriculture. Similarly, Waterloo Energy Products sells a full range of residential and commercial renewable energy…

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 appears in last-minute video leaks

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 45 mm Evan Blass

  • The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has appeared in two how-to videos from AT&T.
  • The videos describe processes like resetting the watch and changing watch faces.
  • You also get a good look at how to navigate the home screen of the device.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 is launching tomorrow alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series but leaks and rumors these past few months have left little to the imagination. Samsung’s new flagship smartwatch has appeared in renders, its firmware has outed its features, it’s already on the shelves at some retail stores, and now, it has appeared in official AT&T how-to videos leaked by tipster Evan Blass.

The two instructional videos show the front of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and describe processes like resetting the watch, changing watch faces, adding widgets to the home screen, and more. We can also see the rotating dial of the smartwatch in action in these videos.

In addition, you get a good sense of the watch’s interface and how to navigate the home screen. For instance, swiping right brings up the notifications menu, swiping left brings up the widgets, exercise modes, and apps, and swiping down brings up the Moments bar to view status icons, access settings, or activate features quickly. You can see all this in the two leaked AT&T instructional videos below.

All that’s left for Samsung to do now is to unveil the Galaxy Watch 3 price and availability details. As we mentioned before, the watch is already on shelves in some retail stores and according to prices spotted by leaker Max Weinbach at a Target store, it can go for anywhere between $399.99 to $479.99 depending on the model. Weinbach also claims that the “street date” for the device is August 6 so that’s when you can expect to buy it online or from brick and mortar stores.
