Xbox’s new mobile gaming gear includes controllers from Razer and 8BitDo

Microsoft is gearing up for the September launch of Project xCloud by introducing a slew of  controllers and other accessories to help you play Xbox games on your phone.

The highlight, as you may have already seen on Android Authority by now, is an Xbox edition of the Razer Kishi. The clip-on controls turn your Android phone into a Nintendo Switch-style game console with buttons that reflect the usual Xbox control scheme while supporting regular Android games. It’s available now for $100.

It’s not the only option, however. Retro gaming brand 8BitDo has unveiled an SN30 Pro for Android (pictured above) that melds its SNES-inspired design with a clip to put your phone in an ideal viewing position. It comes to the US and other “select” markets on September 21 for $45, and you can buy Mobile Gaming Clips for Xbox Controllers at the same time for $15.

PowerA is getting involved beyond its existing MOGA Mobile Gaming Clip (now updated to a grippier Clip 2). The MOGA XP5-X Plus (pictured at middle left) provides an “Xbox style” gamepad along with a phone clip and mappable extra buttons. It ships September 15 for $70. The more flexible $100 MOGA XP7-X Plus (middle right) gives you a more flexible design than the Kishi with options to either clamp your phone inside or prop it up on a stand. It arrives sometime this holiday.

There is a headset if you want upgraded audio. SteelSeries has unveiled an Arctis 1 Wireless headset for Xbox that includes a USB-C dongle to provide higher-quality audio on your phone. You can expect the same noise-cancelling microphone and the Arctis 9X’s drivers. It’s available now for $100.

Apple Seeking to Build China-Based iPhone Supply Chain Exclusively for Chinese Market

DigiTimes issued a report today highlighting Apple's apparent efforts to build a supply chain consisting entirely of China-based makers in order to manufacture iPhones specifically for the Chinese market.


The assessment is based on recent aggressive moves by Apple suppliers Luxshare and Lens Technology to acquire metal chassis plants operated in China by Taiwan-based makers, a strategy that the US tech giant has reportedly been encouraging.

Luxshare, the largest assembler of AirPods, has newly joined the iPhone assembly chain by acquiring lower-end ‌iPhone‌ production lines in China from Taiwan's Wistron, the sources said. To further expand its presence in the ‌iPhone‌ supply chain, Luxshare also has been keenly seeking to take over metal chassis plants in China from Taiwan-based firms in the ‌iPhone‌ supply chain.

Taiwan's metal chassis maker Catcher Technology reportedly had planned to sell 30% of its stakes in its China plants to Luxshare, but talks over the deal were suspended after Luxshare began negotiating with Pegatron's affiliate Casetek Holdings over purchasing its metal chassis plants in China, according to DigiTimes' sources.

Later, Catcher reportedly was also in talks with China's handset cover glass maker Lens Technology on selling its plants in Suzhou to the Chinese maker, but the deal hit a snag over the acquisition price, the sources said.

The moves are believed to be part of Apple's efforts to recruit more Chinese suppliers that can provide lower-cost components for iPhones for the China market. Together with the lingering pressure of US-China trade tensions, such deals are increasingly being seen as part of Apple's wider plan to diversify overseas production bases, as demonstrated in recent reports that several Apple suppliers are actively seeking to set up production facilities in India.

HMD Global officially announced the new entry-level smartphone called Nokia C3. It has a price tag of only USD 100.

Meet the Nokia C3

It has a 5.99-inch HD+ screen which makes it one of the smaller devices of 2020. Inside, it houses a 1.6GHz octa-core processor (UNISOC SC9863 SoC), 3GB of RAM, and a 32GB expandable storage with a dedicated microSD card slot with up to 128GB support. It also has a 3,040mAh battery that charges via micro USB at 5W.

For cameras, it has an 8MP camera at the back and a 5MP selfie shooter.

Other features include WiFi, FM Radio, 3.55mm headphone jack, a dedicated Xpress Key that can be programmed for launching Google Assistant or other apps, and it loads with Android 10 out of the box.

It has two color options in Blue and Gold.

China price with direct to PHP conversion (no taxes and duties yet):

Nokia C3 - CNY 699 (around PHP 4.9K)

It is set to be available in China starting August 13 at CNY 699 which is around PHP 4,900 out of straight conversion. Local availability is yet to be confirmed but we will update you as soon as we get more information.
