Meet the Dynabook Portege X30L-G - Very light yet powerful

We have the Dynabook Protege X30L-G at hand. It is a thin and light laptop that packs a punch. Let's check it out!

Meet the Dynabook Protege X30L-G

The Protege X30L-G that we have has a 13.3-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display with a non-reflective finish. It is bright enough to be used indoors both in warm and cooler lighting. Colors are good enough but far from vibrant OLED screens. Overall, the screen is great for daily tasks and media consumption. No touchscreen capabilities though.

In terms of build, the ultra-light Dynabook Protege X30L-G is so light (870 grams) I cannot determine if it made out of metal or plastic. It can be easily carried singlehandedly when you need to move around. It passed MIL-STD 810G tests though to that means it is very durable as well. It also has two downward-firing speakers.
The keyboard
The keyboard

The keyboard is pretty good for typing. Key travel is pretty good for a chiclet-style keyboard. Deck flex is noticeable though. It has backlighting which is a plus for working in darker areas. However, the keyboard can feel a bit cramped especially for me who has a bigger hand. I suffer from fat-finger syndrome which led to accidental key presses for me.
The trackpad has a fingerprint sensor

The trackpad has a good size and a matte finish. It is a bit of a fingerprint magnet though. It also has a fingerprint sensor on it which is works quickly with Windows Hello.

For performance, it has a 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-10510U CPU, Intel UHD Graphics, 8GB of RAM, and a 500GB SSD. For a work laptop, this is a great specs sheet. The CPU and RAM are powerful enough to handle multitasking seamlessly.

Multiple Chrome tabs can be opened at the same time with little to no struggle. The lack of a discrete laptop can be a problem for graphics extensive tasks like Photoshop and video editing though.

For ports, on the left side, it has the charging port, USB-C port, HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD slot. The right side houses 2x USB 3.0 Type-A ports, Ethernet port, and a security lock slot. It also has dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 720p webcam, and a built-in microphone.

Our thoughts

You only get the charger and the laptop of the box
You only get the charger and the laptop of the box

The Dynabook Protege X30L-G is looking to be a reliable choice if you are looking for a solid business-class laptop. It has a design-style that screams functional and professional while maintaining an updated specs sheet inside.

Our only concern? Dynabook Protege X30L-G's international pricing is quite expensive for the specs versus its competitors. The laptop starts at USD 2,500 (around PHP 121K) in other parts of the world.

Other than that, it could be a great slim and lightweight workhorse to accompany you in your daily life.

LG shows hit of COVID-19 in its financial report

LG Electronics Financial Results Q2 2020

The company has a consolidated revenue of USD 10.51 billion which was 17.9 percent lower compared to Q2 2019. The operating revenue, on the other hand, is at USD 405.65 million which is a decline of 24.1 percent from 2019's.

Amidst these declines, LG showed its resilience as it managed its supply chain and cost structure to soldier on.

The LG Home Appliance and Air Solution Company reported revenues of USD 4.22 billion which is 15.5 percent lower from Q2 2019. Operating income of USD 514.23 million showed a 12.5 percent decline YoY even though operating profit margin of 12.2 percent was the highest second quarter in the history of LG H&A Company.

The LG Home Entertainment Company's sales totaled to USD 1.85 billion which is a decline of 24.4 percent from last year. Operating income is USD 93.37 million which is 25.9 percent lower. In addition to continuing to reduce material costs, the LG HE Company is aggressively controlling marketing investments, increasing the proportion of premium TV products, expanding online sales, and further optimizing operating efficiencies to bring profitability in line with last year.

The LG Mobile Communications Company posted a Q2 2020 sales revenue of USD 1.07 billion which is a 31.1 percent increase compared to Q1 2020. The operating loss of USD 169.10 million narrowed compared to both the second quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020 as a result of improved marketing efficiencies and greater cost controls. The global rollout of LG VELVET in the third quarter along with the launch of new attractively-priced models are expected to create momentum for LG smartphones.

The LG Vehicle Component Solutions Company recorded quarterly revenues of USD 746.95 million which is a 40 percent decline from the same quarter last year, and an operating loss of USD 165.82 million as a result of pandemic-related manufacturing shutdowns of global automakers. Demand for auto parts is expected to gradually recover as major automakers resume operations.

The LG Business Solutions Company reported sales of USD 1.07 billion in the second quarter, 12.6 percent lower than Q2 2019 while operating income declined to USD 80.49 million.

To help tackle the ongoing challenges, LG’s B2B division is focused on creating business opportunities in the growing "untact" trend, with a focus on expanding sales of premium digital signage products, strengthening its competitiveness in solar modules and capturing a greater share of the telecommuting and distance-learning markets.

Here's how to get the Pixel 4a's Eclipse live wallpaper on any phone

If you like bluish gradients, this is your wallpaper

It's pretty common for wallpapers from the latest phones to be ported to others, and the Pixel 4a is the latest subject of this. A developer on the XDA Forums by the name of Pranav Pandey has ported the 4a's Eclipse live wallpaper, and we have the download over at APK Mirror.

As far as live wallpapers go, Eclipse is definitely on the simpler side. It's pretty much just a gradient that will shift depending on your battery life.
