Samsung Exynos chips for entry-level Xiaomi and OPPO phones soon?

The report said that we'll see budget Xiaomi and OPPO smartphones with Exynos SoCs inside as early as the first half of 2021.

This is not the first time that Samsung sold its chips to rival mobile brands. Earlier this year, the Samsung Exynos 980 debuted on the vivo S6 5G followed by Exynos 880 on the vivo Y70s.

On November 12, Samsung will launch the Exynos 1080 chipset and it is expected to debut on the upcoming vivo X60.

The report said that OPPO and Xiaomi are having difficulties sourcing enough chipsets to meet their goals of expanding production. It is also said that the chipsets have competitive pricing, a reason why the Chinese mobile tech giants picked Samsung.

GSMArena claimed that the said chip for budget

Apart from budget smartphones, the report added that Samsung will likely be able to supply the Chinese companies chips for premium smartphones.

DJI’s Mini 2 drone boasts 4K video and a dramatic range upgrade

  • DJI has released the Mini 2, a successor to its Mavic Mini drone.
  • The new model has 4K video and more than double the range of the Mavic Mini.
  • It’s available now at a higher price of $449.

The Mavic Mini was one of the best (and most important) drones of 2019 thanks to its combination of quality video recording and competitive pricing, so it shouldn’t surprise you that there’s already a sequel. DJI has introduced a Mini 2 drone that addresses the relatively few shortcomings of its predecessor, albeit at a cost.

The most conspicuous upgrade comes to the camera. DJI’s Mini 2 finally records 4K at 100Mbps (albeit at 30 frames per second) instead of the 2.7K and 40Mbps of its predecessor, making it a much better pick for your airborne video projects. You can also shoot 12MP RAW still photos in addition to JPEG shots, and recording 1080 video opens the door to a 4X Zoom mode that lets you get closer to a subject without flying the drone. All footage remains stabilized through a three-axis gimbal.

DJI has significantly improved the performance of its latest mini drone. The Mini 2 packs more reliable OcuSync 2.0 transmission technology that reportedly offers a 6.2-mile range, a 150% increase over the 2.5 miles of the Mavic Mini. You’ll still have to keep those long-range excursions brief, but the Mini 2 does offer a near-class-leading 31 minutes of flight time. DJI has promised upgraded motors with greater speed, greater acceleration and the ability to counter winds up to 24MPH.

It should be easier to share your footage, too. The Mini 2 can now connect directly to the DJI Fly mobile app without the remote controller, so it should be quicker to download, edit, and share your photos and videos.

Like earlier mini DJI drones, the new model is aimed partly at newcomers and others who’d rather not do the hard work. Simplified controls help you get started, while pre-programmed QuickShot modes like Dronies (subject tracking shots) and Rocket (flying straight up and looking down) take the guesswork out of compelling videos. You can capture spherical and conventional panoramas, while photographers can use auto exposure bracketing and timed shots.

The improvements come at a cost. DJI is currently selling the base Mini 2 kit with a controller and one battery for $449, or about $50 more than its Mavic Mini predecessor cost when new. Pay $599 and you’ll get a Fly More Combo with three batteries, a charging hub, and a carrying case. That’s not a trivial expense, particularly if you’re new to drones, but DJI is clearly betting that it will seem like a bargain when you previously had to spring for more expensive drones like the Mavic Air 2 if you wanted 4K video or greater range.

DJI announces the Mavic Mini 2 with up to 4K@30fps recording and better transmission range

Still tiny, but pretty powerful

If you've been keeping an eye on drone news lately, it's hard to miss the extensive leaks that revealed the new Mavic Mini 2. It's an upgrade to the original Mini, released almost exactly one year ago that became immediately popular for coming in just under the weight limit that required registration with the FAA, TCCA, and other airspace authorities. DJI has now made it official and is opening up orders.

Google Keep's new icon just hit Android

Don't worry, it's nothing like the new Gmail icon

Google rolled out a whole new set of (uggo) icons for Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and Meet last month, and now it's Keep's turn. As teased at the beginning of October, the much-loved and Google app-integrated notes service just picked up a new icon at the desktop site, and we have to assume the app will follow.

Behold. Left: Old icon.
