Samsung’s next budget phone could pack a 7,000mAh battery

  • Samsung is reportedly working on a phone with a 7,000mAh battery.
  • The phone could be called the Galaxy M12 or Galaxy F12.

Samsung has revealed several budget phones with huge batteries in the past 12 months, offering capacities of 5,000mAh or even 6,000mAh. This size means two-day endurance should be easily achievable, depending on your activity and the rest of the spec sheet.

Now, it looks like Samsung is upping the ante even more as 91mobiles reports the firm is working on a budget phone packing a 7,000mAh battery. In other words, this battery is bigger than some of the company’s tablets, like the Galaxy Tab Active 3 and Galaxy Tab A 8.4.

The battery size means that we can likely expect two or even three days of juice, making it ideal if you spend plenty of time away from a charger or power bank.

91mobiles also obtained images apparently showing the device case, revealing the model numbers of SM-M127F/ SM-F127G as well as what could be a quad rear camera setup. Check out the images below.

It’s also worth noting that there doesn’t appear to be space for a fingerprint scanner on the back. Instead, it’s possible that Samsung is opting for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button.

The outlet says the phone could likely be called the Galaxy M12 or Galaxy F12. The M12 designation would suggest it’s a follow-up to the Galaxy M11, released earlier this year. That phone packed an ageing and lightweight Snapdragon 450 chipset, a triple rear camera (13MP, 5MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth), and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging. So hopefully we see significant upgrades across the board with the new phone.

This wouldn’t be the first time we see a Galaxy F series phone if the device adopts the Galaxy F12 moniker. Samsung previously launched the Galaxy F41 in India last month, coming as a rebranded Galaxy M31 of sorts.

Deal: The OnePlus 7T is just $349 at Woot, and going fast

The OnePlus 7T might be last year’s flagship, but it’s still a massively capable smartphone. Even more so when it’s well below its usual list price.

Over at Woot, the OnePlus 7T is just $349.99 right now. That’s a 42% drop over its $599 launch listing, although the phone received a permanent $100 price cut to $499 earlier this year.

There is one caveat: this is the T-Mobile variant of the phone, but it has been unlocked to use with any SIM anywhere in the world, bar two. That is, it isn’t compatible with Verizon or Sprint, though.

As for specs, you’re getting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus at its heart, a 6.55-inch AMOLED display upfront, 128GB internal storage, and 8GB of RAM. Of course, that triple rear camera headlines once again, too.

Time is running out to snag the deal though, so pick it up before it’s gone.

It's still a stellar flagship phone, but even more so when it's this cheap. Packing a Snapdragon 855 Plus, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage, it's a steal at this price.

DJI’s new Mini 2 makes its littlest drone much better

DJI today announced the Mini 2, a small but significant upgrade to the company’s littlest drone model. (You read that right, by the way. The new model is called the Mini 2, not the Mavic Mini 2). As with the original Mavic Mini, the Mavic 2 is light enough that it doesn’t need to be registered with the FAA in the US — it’s 249 grams, just 1 gram under the requirement. The biggest improvement this time around is that rather than connecting via Wi-Fi, which could lead to unstable connections over large distances, the drone uses DJI’s much more…
