The Google Pixel series is traditionally ahead of the pack when it comes to system and security updates, but some Pixel 4 owners are being left in the lurch.
This is particularly evident with the December 2019 security update, which seems to have missed quite a few Pixel 4 devices. Now, Google has confirmed on Twitter that it will be bundling the December 2019 security update with its January 2020 patch.
We understand your concern, Mirak. If you did not receive the December update, in the coming days you’ll be receiving a joint January and December security update. We apologize for the inconvenience.

There are a number of potential reasons why Google may have been slow to roll out the December 2019 update. But it’s definitely annoying when a device family with a reputation for super-quick updates is lagging behind. It’s especially disappointing when the manufacturer is also the company behind Android in the first place.
At least Google is attempting to mitigate the delay by bundling updates, but hopefully the company doesn’t delay this combined OTA too.
News of the bundled update comes a few weeks after the search company announced the first Feature Drop for Pixel devices. This large update — the first in what is set to be a quarterly series of updates — delivers better RAM management, more Duo features, and portrait blur in Google Photos.
