Basically, it will allow Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi users to enjoy easy and faster wireless file transfer in just a click. The move is also in anticipation of 5G adoption where average file sizes are expected to significantly increase.

To recall, current Bluetooth tech for cross-brand (Android) file transfers are not that fast. The new solution promises about 20MB/s speed to quickly transfer your photos, videos, documents, and more across Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi smartphones.

It uses Bluetooth tech for fast pairing and WiFi P2P (Peer to Peer) technology for speedy data transfer with low power consumption.

How to use the cross-brand file transfer solution?

1. Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth
2. Make sure that the other party also has the functions turned on
3. An icon pop-up will notify the user
4. Once confirmed, the selected files will be transferred.

Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi all share a strong user base, and such a partnership will benefit even more consumers globally. For Vivo, this partnership reinforces our commitment to bringing a fast, secure, first-in-class mobile experience by making it even easier for our users to share files with their friends wirelessly. We will continue to bring more strategic partnerships like this for our users across the globe, said Spark Ni, Senior Vice President of Vivo.

Availability

The feature will be gradually rolled out on new Vivo products in different markets from February 2020.

Launch dates may vary depending on the smartphone brand and device model.

Vivo also said that the alliance will make the three brands continue to openly collaborate to deliver new technological breakthroughs.

The alliance is also looking forward to welcoming more brands to participate and expand the ecosystem in the future.
