The said factory is the one responsible for making high-end phones for the South Korean market like the Galaxy Z Flip and the Galaxy Fold. Given the limited stocks of those devices, this scare could pose a shortage of problems for the phones.
But, health first before anything else. Samsung told its workers to self-quarantine, test them for the virus, and keep the relevant floor closed until February 25.
The company has placed colleagues who came in contact with the infected employee in self-quarantine and taken steps to have them tested for possible infection, Samsung said in a news release.
Samsung revealed that chip and display factories across South Korea aren't affected by the outbreak.
Gumi is not far from Daegu, the heart of the Coronavirus outbreak in South Korea.
South Korea revealed on Saturday that the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country had more than doubled to 433.
As of writing, Samsung is not the only tech brand affected by the outbreak. Apple has also warned that they might have shortages of iPhones. Vivo said that the launch of Funtouch OS 10 was delayed.
