We’ve known about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip for a while now thanks to leaks and (most recently) Samsung’s teaser in an ad-break during the Oscar Awards.
Now, The Korea Herald reports that Samsung is aiming to sell 2.5 million Galaxy Z Flip units in 2020, citing industry reports. Furthermore, the outlet says the Korean manufacturer is preparing an initial batch of 500,000 units.
Sources told the news outlet that Samsung is pricing the Galaxy Z Flip at 1.5 million won (~$1,263) in order to sell more units. The Galaxy Fold, by comparison, launched at ~$2,000. A Samsung executive said earlier this year that the original Fold sold between 400,000 and 500,000 units.
Speaking of the Galaxy Fold, The Korea Herald reports that the Galaxy Fold 2 is scheduled for an August 2020 launch. This would be in line with the Galaxy Note’s traditional launch month, so we can likely expect the Fold 2 alongside the Note 20.
News of Samsung’s apparent sales goal for the Galaxy Z Flip comes a day before it’s scheduled to launch the Galaxy S20 series. We’re expecting to hear more Z Flip details at this event or during the week.
