Sony is banking on nostalgia and will be bringing back the Walkman with updated features for 2020. The new Walkman will come in the standard NW-A105 and the Limited edition NW-A100TPS.

The new walkmans are made of a rigid aluminum frame that houses a large 3.6-inch 1280 x 720 TFT display. On the right of the device are the power button, the volume buttons,  playback buttons, and the hold switch. While at the bottom is a Stereo mini-jack and a MicroSD card slot with support for both micro SDHC and micro SDXC.

Sony says that the new Walkman has a built-in Vinyl Processor that the company claims will add a warmer character to the digital tracks and will allow listeners to enjoy rich reproduction of the low-frequencies.

It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and WiFi and it charges with a built-in Lithium-ion battery that charges via USB Type-C. It is rated for up to 20 hours of MP3 128kbps continuous playback or up to 24 hours of FLAC 192kHz/24bit playback.

Under the hood is Android 9.0 with a retro Cassette Tape UI. It supports Digital Noise Cancellation that comes in Full-Auto AINC, Bus/Train mode, Airplane mode, and Office mode.

It supports High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Audio Wireless (3x the bit rate of the Standard Bluetooth).
