We already knew the sketchy Escobar Fold 2 foldable device was a Samsung Galaxy Fold based on the design and UI alone, but a new video clip has shown just how little effort went into hiding this fact.
Tech YouTuber Marques ‘MKBHD’ Brownlee got his hands on an Escobar Fold 2 and removed the gold stickers reveal Samsung branding. The Samsung logo is clearly visible when you remove the gold sticker on the hinge. Just in case One UI and the unique design alone weren’t enough to convince you that it was a Galaxy Fold.
The YouTuber speculates that the company is only shipping orders to prominent tech YouTubers or tech bloggers/journalists, and not shipping other orders. So, a scam, basically.
Furthermore, Brownlee suggests that two D-list celebrity endorsements on Escobar’s YouTube channel actually come from the Cameo service. This website allows you to pay celebrities to film a personalized video for you. Needless to say, he firmly recommends that you don’t buy anything from the company.
This isn’t the first time the Escobar firm tried to pull a fast one on customers either, with its original Escobar Fold device simply being a rebranded Royole Flexpai. In fact, the YouTuber notes that he ordered an original Escobar Fold in December and still hadn’t received one.
