108MP who?
Early rumors are saying that it'll be a 150MP camera sensor for mobile phones with MASSIVE 1-inch sensor size. That means that it will be bigger than anything found in the market right now. It is as big as the 1-inch sensor size of the Sony RX100 and it is larger than the 1/1.2-inch sensor of the Nokia 808 PureView phone. The said sensor could use the Nonacell 9-in-1 pixel binning that will result in 16MP shots. This should be way better than the 4-in-1 binning found on most smartphone cameras today.
The said sensor is expected to launch in Q4 this year. Xiaomi could be the first to use it then OPPO and Vivo will follow in early 2021. Of course, Samsung might use this sensor in its own upcoming flagships next year as well.
Could this be a camera sensor that could finally compete with some big cameras? We'll see!
