1. Improved design and build - In terms of looks, the Mate Xs look similar to its predecessor. But, it has an improved hinge design still dubbed the Falcon Wing Design.

It is now made out of a zirconium-based liquid metal which is touted to be tougher than steel. The hinge is also said to have 100 components inside to make sure that it is a tougher folding mechanism.

The result, it feels better and tougher than any other hinge design we've seen on foldable smartphones yes. The crease is almost non-existent because of this as well.

2. Gorgeous folding screen - It retains the good-looking 8-inch outwards folding screen with a 2480 x 2200 resolution. Fold it and you get a 6.6-inch front fold screen and a 6.38-inch secondary display. It retains its unique way of folding which makes the Mate Xs look like a normal phone while folded.

This is great if you want to use the phone as a tablet or simply enjoy a bigger screen when needed and revert it back to a regular-sized phone when you want.

3. Updated flagship specs - For performance, it has Huawei's 2.86GHz 64-bit Kirin 990 5G octa-core processor with Triple NPU, which consists of 2x Big Core + 1x Tiny Core. It also has Mali-G76 MP16 with the new generation GPU Turbo and the Balong 5000 5G modem with a multi-mode design.

This SoC combo is paired with 8GB RAM, 512GB storage, and 4,500nAh battery with USB-C 55W SuperCharge. This spec sheet shows how future-ready this smartphone is.

4. Quad cameras - It has a quad-camera setup with 40MP f/1.8 primary camera with ISO 204800 + 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide sensor + 8MP f/2.4 3X optical zoom with OIS + 3D ToF sensor. Due to the outward folding design, this also serves as the selfie sensors. This means your selfies will be as good as any other shot you take.

5. Flying Fish Fin cooling - To maintain its thermals, Huawei says it implemented the Flying Fish Fin cooling system designed specifically for foldable devices. This means that there were no compromises made in terms of thermal management just to achieve the folding form factor. It can maximize its specs without worrying about temperatures and throttling.

The Huawei Mate Xs is set to be available globally next month with a price of EUR 2,499 (around PHP 140K). Traditionally, the price tag in PH is lower than Europe.
