Is this a glimpse of the future?
Is that a stylus? |
A new Korean show on Netflix could be giving us a preview of the future of smartphones. In Episode 3 of Rugal, a man holding a smartphone with similar design cues from the Samsung Galaxy Note10 with squarish corners with a curved display and what looks like a stylus.

From the other point of view, we can determine that one side is smooth without any hardware buttons while on there are the volume rocker. It is not clear if the power button is beside the volume rocker. The camera module and any form of branding is obscured from view. So it is hard to tell which brand this smartphone could be.
In December of 2019, OPPO showcased a prototype smartphone with an under-display camera that you can read more about at this link. This new technology could allow future smartphones to remove the notch or punch-hole entirely.
There has been no official word from other brands regarding an under-display camera (or under screen camera) so take this information with a grain of salt.
Another way of explaining this is that the video on the screen of the smartphone could have been digitally placed on top of the phone. If this is true, then the VFX team who placed the video digitally is highly skilled because they were able to replicate the subtle glare and distortion on the curved edge of the display.
What do you guys think?
