IP68 rating on future Redmi phones? Why not?

IP68 is a water and dust resistance rating. Devices with such a rating can be submerged in 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.

Lu Weibing made the statement after saying that the Redmi K30 Pro has IP53 which enough for splash resistance and IP68 is not needed. However, his opinion is not so popular with his commenters.

After receiving the feedback from netizens, he said that the company will consider it on future devices.

Often, IP68 is found on higher-end devices. Personally, I won't complain even if the Redmi K30 Pro doesn't have IP53 because it is already a super-affordable for a phone with flagship Snapdragon 865 chip.

But of course, if Redmi can really add IP68 on future devices, go! Having such protection against water and dust could save your device when accidentally dropped on water.

What do you guys think?
