Based on an editorial published on the Samsung Newsroom website, Yongin Park, the EVP and Head of the EVPSensor Business Team at Samsung's LSI division, has revealed that the company is working on a camera sensor with 600MP resolution!
600MP Samsung sensor soon? |
Higher than the 500MP of the human eye
Samsung said that their team now aims to develop sensors that "go beyond our human senses". This include the 600MP camera which is greater than the around 500 megapixels of the human eye.
But, Samsung's post suggests that it might not be for smartphones. The company said that it might implement the sensor on other rapidly-emerging fields such as autonomous vehicles, IoT, and drones.
Its future 600MP camera might just be too big to fit a smartphone. But, who knows?
The Galaxy S20 Ultra (right) comes with a 108MP primary camera |
To recall, Samsung is the first to go beyond 48MP on a small sensor. Last year, the company has introduced the world's first 64MP and 108MP cameras.
In the near future, there are claims stating that the company might introduce 150MP and 192MP sensors for smartphones soon.
