Update, May 22, 2020 (3:30AM ET): In April, Samsung announced it’s bringing a bunch of A-series phones to the US (see original article below). Of those, the Galaxy A51, Galaxy A11, and Galaxy A01 have launched in the country. Samsung also recently detailed the Galaxy A21s, a successor to the A21, but both of them haven’t made their US debut yet. Similarly, the Galaxy A71 has also not released in the US market until now.
Now, according to folks over at XDA Developers, the previously announced Galaxy A71 5G phone is headed to the US with possibly the Snapdragon 765 in tow. While we already know that the Galaxy A71 will cost $599, we didn’t know what processor it’ll end up using.

In its home market, the phone gets the Exynos 980 chipset. Thanks to information dug up by XDA we now know that this likely won’t be the case in the US. It’s also typical of Samsung not to offer Exynos variants of its phones in the US, so this was pretty much expected.
The publication was also able to uncover that the Galaxy A71 5G is headed to Verizon’s network. This means that the Verizon variant of the A71 will likely feature mmWave 5G connectivity to connect to the carrier’s Ultra Wideband network. This will likely make the phone a tad more expensive than its unlocked version.
Besides the aforementioned details, XDA reports that both the unlocked and Verizon versions of the phone could launch in late June or early July. For more on the specs of the Galaxy A71, check out our original article below.
Original article, April 8, 2020 (9 AM ET): The Samsung Galaxy A series is where the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer sells its most budget-oriented devices. If you are looking to get the best phone you can for the least amount of money possible, the Galaxy A line is where you should start your search.
However, all the newest phones in the Samsung Galaxy A line haven’t launched in the United States. That changes starting tomorrow, as two of the Galaxy A phones we’ve already seen land in other countries will arrive here in the US: the Galaxy A01 and Galaxy A51.
The Samsung Galaxy A01, as its name implies, is the lowest-tier of the bunch. With a starting price of just $109.99, this is the phone you want if you want to spend as little as possible and not head into Android Go territory. It will arrive on Verizon starting April 9 and then land on other carriers soon. You will also be able to buy it unlocked from Samsung.com or other select retailers.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 is a more premium device as compared to the Galaxy A01. It has more cameras, a bigger, higher-resolution display, a bigger battery, and more. It also has a bigger price, starting at $399.99. It will land on Verizon starting April 9 and will hit Sprint the next day on April 10. More carrier partnerships will happen soon, and you can always buy it unlocked directly from Samsung.
There are many more devices in the Samsung Galaxy A line on the way as well, including not one but two 5G-capable phones. The Samsung Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy A71 5G will go for $499.99 and $599.99 respectively when they land in the States later this summer.
