Researchers in Australia claimed that they have recorded the fastest internet yet at 44.2 terabits per second (Tbps).

It could download more than 1,000 high-definition movies in less than 1 second
The team from Monash, Swinburne, and RMIT universities achieved the said speed by using a device that replaces around 80 lasers found in some existing telecoms hardware, with a single piece of equipment known as a "micro-comb".
The micro-comb was planted and tested outside the lab using an existing infrastructure that is similar to what Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN) used. It resulted to the highest amount of data ever produced by a single optical chip.
The researchers hope the findings offer a glimpse into how internet connections could look in the future.
In comparison, the data from Ookla revealed average Fixed Broadband internet speed in the world is 74.74 Mbps for download and 39.62 Mbps for upload.
The country with the fastest download speed is Singapore with 198.46 Mbps followed by Hong Kong with 176.70 Mbps download speeds.
Out of the 174 countries worldwide, the Philippines is currently ranked number 110 out of 174 countries worldwide. Our Fixed Broadband average download speed here is just 21 Mbps.
