Google Pixel Buds 2 problems arise as users report audio glitches

The long-awaited Google Pixel Buds 2 recently went to market in April and users are already facing multiple audio issues with them.

According to a thread on Google’s Pixel Buds support forum, as well as a Reddit thread, users are experiencing strange audio cutouts on Google’s latest true wireless earbuds.

A number of users say that the audio on their Pixel Buds 2 randomly cuts out for a few seconds when the phone connected to them is placed in a pocket. This happens to many who use the earbuds for exercising outdoors, as they need to put their connected phones in their pockets.

Meanwhile, other users have an issue with one of the buds not working or responding to touch gestures. For most, this particular problem plagues the right side bud, but some have even experienced it on the left one.

Users have tried everything from restarting their phones to unpairing and repairing the buds, and even updating the firmware. However, the problems continue to persist. The reports range from firmware version 225 all the way up to the latest version 295 of the Pixel Buds 2.

A Droid-Life writer was also able to reproduce the audio cutouts almost on command by cupping their ears with their hands when wearing the buds. While this is not how the problem manifests itself for most users, clearly the buds have some interference or connectivity troubles that Google needs to address.

Something like this doesn’t seem to be a hardware problem mostly because our own pair worked just fine during our Pixel Buds 2 review process. Google will most likely resolve these issues through a future firmware update. Some Google product experts on its forum suggest that users should report their issues through the in-app feedback option as more tickets on a particular issue will help to increase its priority.
