Faster distribution of cash assistance to those affected by COVID-19 pandemic

To recall, the ReliefAgad app was released by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) last May 14.

It facilitates the automated cash aid distribution of the government's social amelioration program (SAP). This is designed to help families affected by the lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This app is also being used mainly for updating beneficiary data and information. The goal is to make the distribution of cash aid faster and more efficient. The relief distribution is also done quicker by the e-wallets from PayMaya. These e-wallets are accessible for beneficiaries who already have their social amelioration card (SAC).

The DSWD also formed a partnership with SAID’s E-PESO Project and Developers Connect Philippines (DevCon) for the Relief Agad project. With this collaboration, some beneficiaries may self-enroll through an online form. This lessens the process of filling up forms then encoding them to the database.

CEO and PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Alfredo S. Panlilio said that they are encouraging qualified beneficiaries to register to the ReliefAgad app and link their mobile numbers. In addition to that, Jovy Hernandez, ePLDT President, and CEO and SVP and Head for PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups explained,

We are committed to assisting the DSWD in promoting electronic registrations to the Relief Agad app for a more efficient distribution of the second tranche of cash relief through contactless transactions.

Filipino beneficiaries can link their mobile numbers once they are registered. They can also select their preferred means of receiving financial aid from the government agency and that includes eWallets like PayMaya.
