New iPhone camera suppliers
It revealed that Apple included Semco and Sunny Optical lenses into its supply chain this year. Kou said that two are the best Korean and Chinese lens suppliers, respectively. Semco is a Korean-based company while Sunny Optical is a Chinese lens brand.
So, we might see these lenses on the upcoming iPhone 12 series.
Kou believes that the companies will be able to deliver higher quality components with better performance. The lenses should give a performance increase and improved autofocus.
Semco's ball-based voice coil motor in the lenses is also said to be better than the current spring-based design.
Also, Kuo believes that future iPhones in 2022 will feature periscope telephoto lenses manufactured by Semco.
Periscope lenses on commercially available smartphones were first seen on the Huawei P30 Pro launch in March 2019. OPPO is also one of the pioneers of this tech, but they released the Reno 10x Zoom in June of 2019.
What do you guys think? Are you excited to own an iPhone with superzoom tech?
