The telco giants had already installed strong and reliable Wi-Fi systems in selected government hospitals and government-facilitated quarantine centers. This is to guarantee that their communication exchange will be seamless and organized.

Aside from that assistance, they also provided mobile phones, pre-paid load, and landlines to enable easy access to COVID-19 news or updates of healthcare providers. Also. these workers can keep in touch regularly with their family members back home. ePLDT President & CEO and SVP & Head for PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups Jovy Hernandez added,

In these uncertain times, we will continue to do our part to support frontliners, who are working hard to attend to the needs of those affected by COVID-19. We at PLDT-Smart will do everything in our power to help push Bayanihan forward.

As of this date, 115 public hospitals and medical centers have received support from the two companies. These include the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Centers, Philippine Children’s Hospital, National Orthopedic Center, Research Institute for Tropical Medicine, San Lorenzo Hospital, University of the Philippines Manila Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH), and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

Moreover, PLDT and SMART have also given health workers some personal protective equipment (PPEs) such as masks and gloves.  They say that they want to make sure that these front-liners are protected while they attend to their patients.

All of these initiatives are part of the PLDT and Smart's efforts to help the country fight COVID-19.

Previously, the group had already helped other hospitals like UP-PGH with 24/7 hotline numbers.

As a result, Filipino citizens were able to speak with medical professionals about the symptoms they are experiencing.
