HarmonyOS upgrade for EMUI 11 users?
The Chinese tech giant shared that "devices running the new distributed-technology based EMUI 11 will be eligible for an upgrade to Harmony OS in the future."
Huawei hasn't shared other details about their HarmonyOS upgrade plans for EMUI 11 users and it is not clear if the update will be available to all EMUI 11-powered phones or just select models though.
To recall, Huawei said that the HarmonyOS 2.0 SDK for smartphones will be available in December and hinted that we might see running on HarmonyOS next year. Initially, HarmonyOS will be available on low-powered devices such as smartwatches, car head units, and TVs.
Since Huawei is planning to remove the memory limit on Harmony OS in October 2021, we suspect that HarmonyOS will be available on EMUI 11 smartphones at around the same time.
