Huawei devices to use MediaTek Dimensity? |
Huawei has reportedly purchased large numbers of MediaTek chips
MediaTek has been supplying Huawei with entry-level smartphone chips for years now. BBecause of the escalating ban on Huawei, MediaTek made an application to the United States government at the end of August 2020. This application is so that MediaTek can supply chips after September 15.
IThome reports that Huawei has purchased a massive number of 5G MediaTek Dimensity chips that the deal was finalized in September before the ban of manufacturing Kirin chips has taken effect. The report claims that the massive orders are evident in MediaTek's quarterly sales results that showed an increase in both revenue and an increase in net profit Year-on-Year at approximately 45 percent and 94 percent improvement.
This is exciting news since we are going to be able to see Huawei flagships and mid-range phones with MediaTek's new SoC.
