Recording calls issue

The more I look into this, it seems that the only way to record calls on ios is to connect to a third party phone server and then merge this call with the call that you want to record, however when I press the merge calls button nothing happens, one remains active and one remains on hold. Looking further into this, it would seem volte and wifi calling need to both be disable, so ok I disable wifi calling but I see no option to disable volte anywhere on the system. I am using an iphone 12 pro max on ios 14.5.1. Where is the VOLTE option? Can this even be disabled these days? Also if anyone knows of a free way of doing this I'm all ears.
