Why it is difficult making friends as you get older. *Shower Thots*

If you have noticed, as you get older, it becomes more difficult to make friends, rather you have colleagues whom you share common space with, and if you leave that space, you don't talk to them as often, or even at all. I would like to hear your guys opinion on why that is? I personally believe in order to be friends, close ones that is, you need to spend time with them when it is not a necessity. What I mean is, if you hangout with them when you're not at work/school, invite them to your house, etc. you create a personal bond, which in result creates a relationship that is not tied to only one entity such as your work/school. Thus, if you made these kind of friends when you were younger, you find it easier to talk to them anytime.
