Google Pixel 4 international giveaway!

It’s time for the Sunday giveaway! Like every week, we’re giving away a brand new Android phone to one lucky Android Authority reader.

A big congratulations to the winner of last week’s Samsung Galaxy S20 and Defense Shield case giveaway, Cristiano S. from Italy.

This week we’re giving away a brand new Google Pixel 4, courtesy of the AA Deals Store!

One of the hottest offers available in the Deals Store is a 10-year subscription to Rethink Files 2TB Cloud Storage.

We all use our free allocations of cloud storage, but often you need more. In the case of the usual suspects like Google Drive, that can often mean a pricey monthly subscription. That’s not the case with this Rethink deal. While the offer lasts, you can get a 10-year plan of 2TB secure cloud storage for a one-off fee of just $49

Click the link below for more details.

The Google Pixel 4 is a firm fans’ favorite. While it’s far from perfect in our eyes, it’s still a fantastic phone, especially when it’s free!

The Pixel 4 has a 5.7-inch display with AMOLED panels and Full HD+ resolution, revealing a screen that’s color-rich, sharp, and accurate. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, and since the Pixel 3, Google has upped the RAM to 6GB.

The camera unit is a departure too, moving from a single rear camera to a dual-camera setup. The main sensor is 12MP, while the second sensor is 16MP telephoto lens, but the flair is in the features, such as Live HDR+. This tool presents a more accurate representation of what the resulting image will look like as you compose your shot.

Companies are on a full stack developer hiring spree. Here’s how you get on board

According to a report by developer community Hacker Rank, the number one position hiring managers need to fill this year -- with 38 percent of the vote -- is for a full-stack developer. Of course, another finding of that report is that 60 percent of full-stack developers will also be required to learn an entirely new framework to get their job done.

It is now made out of a zirconium-based liquid metal which is touted to be tougher than steel. The hinge is also said to have 100 components inside to make sure that it is a tougher folding mechanism.

The result, it feels better and tougher than any other hinge design we've seen on foldable smartphones yes. The crease is almost non-existent because of this as well.

2. Gorgeous folding screen - It retains the good-looking 8-inch outwards folding screen with a 2480 x 2200 resolution. Fold it and you get a 6.6-inch front fold screen and a 6.38-inch secondary display. It retains its unique way of folding which makes the Mate Xs look like a normal phone while folded.

3. Updated flagship specs - For performance, it has Huawei's 2.86GHz 64-bit Kirin 990 5G octa-core processor with Triple NPU, which consists of 2x Big Core + 1x Tiny Core. It also has Mali-G76 MP16 with the new generation GPU Turbo and the Balong 5000 5G modem with a multi-mode design.

This SoC combo is paired with 8GB RAM, 512GB storage, and 4,500nAh battery with USB-C 55W SuperCharge. This spec sheet shows how future-ready this smartphone is.

5. Flying Fish Fin cooling - To maintain its thermals, Huawei says it implemented the Flying Fish Fin cooling system designed specifically for foldable devices. This means that there were no compromises made in terms of thermal management just to achieve the folding form factor. It can maximize its specs without worrying about temperatures and throttling.

The Huawei Mate Xs is set to be available globally next month with a price of EUR 2,499 (around PHP 140K). Traditionally, the price tag in PH is lower than Europe.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a glass and metal build. It the front and rear glass panel curves to the side with metal accents and trims. It also has Gorilla Glass 6 protection for the screen.

This category is pretty close. Both devices offer good looking designs with respectable builds. The Galaxy S20 Ultra takes a bit of a lead due to its Gorilla Glass 6 protection.

Display - The realme X50 Pro 5G has a 6.44-inch 20:9 6.44-inch AMOLED screen, 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz sampling rate, FHD+ resolution with HDR10+, 100 percent DCI-P3, and 105 percent NTSC color gamut.

Samsung takes this one with a QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED screen with 120Hz of refresh rate. However, realme X50 Pro 5G still offers a very high-end FHD+ AMOLED experience which is really impressive.

Specs - The realme X50 Pro 5G runs a 2.84GHz Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor with an Adreno 650 GPU, up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 256GB UFS 3.0 storage, and a 4,200mAh battery with 65W SuperDart fast charging.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a 2.7GHz Exynos 990 octa-core processor with a Mali-G77 MP11 GPU, up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 512GB expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Both devices offer top of the line performance specs. Snapdragon 865 is faster on paper.

Galaxy S20 Ultra just has the bigger RAM, internal storage, and battery capacity. The charging speed of the X50 Pro 5G is better at 65W, but Samsung has wireless charging and the reverse wireless charging tech.

Cameras

Realme X50 Pro 5G has a quad-camera setup with 64MP f/1.8 Samsung GW1 with UIS + 8MP f/2.3 with 119-degree ultra-wide-angle with 3cm macro + 12MP f/2.5 with 5x optical hybrid zoom + 2MP f/2.4 mono + dual-tone LED flash. For selfies, it has a 32MP f/2.5 Sony IMX616 + 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle.

In terms of features, the realme X50 Pro 5G has a dedicated mono sensor. However, in terms of sheer sensor size, the Galaxy S20 Ultra wins with a 108MP main sensor and a 48MP Hybrid Optic Zoom sensor.

For selfies, the realme X50 Pro 5G has a bit of a lid with the inclusion of an ultra-wide-angle sensor.

Other features

Realme X50 Pro 5G has dual-band WiFi, 5G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, OTG, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, fingerprint sensor, face unlock, splash resistance, Smart PA, stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, and Hi-Res audio.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has WiFi 6, 5G, 4G LTE Cat 20, Bluetooth 5.0, OTG, NFC, dual-band GPS, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, face unlock, IP68 water and dust resistance, USB-C, UHQ 32-bit/DSD audio support, and AKG stereo speakers.

Realme X50 Pro advantages - Arguably faster performance, dual selfie cam, more affordable price tag
Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra advantages - Bigger QHD+ 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED screen, larger RAM and storage sizes, massive battery capacity, wireless charging, more impressive camera specs, camera sensors, IP68 certification

Our thoughts

On paper, the Galaxy S20 Ultra ahead as it is still loaded with more features. But for half the price, the realme X50 Pro 5G can compete. It even has arguably faster overall performance.

Realme X50 Pro 5G is not yet official here. It has a starting price of INR 37,999 (around PHP 27K without taxes and duties yet). Meanwhile, the Galaxy S20 Ultra has an official SRP of PHP 69,990 for the 12GB/128GB storage version.
