Google Pixel Buds 2 problems arise as users report audio glitches

Google Pixel Buds 2020 true wireless earbuds hand held

The long-awaited Google Pixel Buds 2 recently went to market in April and users are already facing multiple audio issues with them.

According to a thread on Google’s Pixel Buds support forum, as well as a Reddit thread, users are experiencing strange audio cutouts on Google’s latest true wireless earbuds.

A number of users say that the audio on their Pixel Buds 2 randomly cuts out for a few seconds when the phone connected to them is placed in a pocket. This happens to many who use the earbuds for exercising outdoors, as they need to put their connected phones in their pockets.

Meanwhile, other users have an issue with one of the buds not working or responding to touch gestures. For most, this particular problem plagues the right side bud, but some have even experienced it on the left one.

Users have tried everything from restarting their phones to unpairing and repairing the buds, and even updating the firmware. However, the problems continue to persist. The reports range from firmware version 225 all the way up to the latest version 295 of the Pixel Buds 2.

A Droid-Life writer was also able to reproduce the audio cutouts almost on command by cupping their ears with their hands when wearing the buds. While this is not how the problem manifests itself for most users, clearly the buds have some interference or connectivity troubles that Google needs to address.

Something like this doesn’t seem to be a hardware problem mostly because our own pair worked just fine during our Pixel Buds 2 review process. Google will most likely resolve these issues through a future firmware update. Some Google product experts on its forum suggest that users should report their issues through the in-app feedback option as more tickets on a particular issue will help to increase its priority.

Hyun Bin for Smart

This is the first time that a local telecom giant tapped a South Korean superstar to be the face of the brand. Smart said that this is a bold statement asserting its commitment to bring "amazing experiences" to Filipinos through digital technology.

In the commercial, Smart and Hyun Bin showed speeds provided by its Smart LTE and Giga Promos. There is a new "Simple, Smart Ako" tagline as well.

Smart President and CEO and PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Alfredo S. Panlilio said that the tagline sums up the company's effort making amazing technology available and simple for Filipinos.

The ad primarily focuses on the "Giga Life for everyone" scenario through a w
ide range of Giga Promos catering to the different passions and needs of its customers.

Smart offers Giga Video for subscribers who binge-watch the latest K-drams, online shows, and series. Smart also has the Giga Stories for those who love sharing experience with anyone on social medial, Giga Games for mobile gamers, Giga Music for those who won't listen to tunes and podcasts, and Giga Work for easy access to productivity apps for both work and school.

To register to the Giga promos, simply dial *123#.

The "Hyun Bin Phenomenon" is pretty much due to digital technology - Filipinos have developed the craze because they are able to stream his shows, hear the buzz about him online, share their excitement with their friends, and even get to interact with him through social media, says Jane Basas, SVP and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart

This makes him a perfect ambassador for Smart as we empower Filipinos with technological solutions made easy so they can enrich their daily lives and pursue their passions, she adds.

Filipinos are some of the warmest fans in the world, and I am thankful to Smart for giving me a way to reach out to everyone in the Philippines. Indeed, Smart has brought us closer than ever, says Hyun Bin, who first won the hearts of Filipinos in 2005, when a local TV network aired a Tagalog-dubbed version of his romantic comedy-drama, "My Name Is Kim Sam Soon."

Smart announced that there will be a Smart Hyun Bin Merchandise for its data plans as well. The local telco giant also revealed that Hyun Bin is coming and they're planning 3 events with him. The exact date and time are unverified yet.

Report: Podcasts have grown 129,000% (yes, percent) in the last decade

Podcasting platform Stitcher said number podcasts have grown by 129,000% (that’s not a typo) in the last decade. In its annual podcasting report, the company said creators published 7 million episodes on the platform in 2019, as compared to 350,000 episodes published in 2010. Stitcher said that while people are publishing more podcasts, the average episode length is now 2.4 minutes shorter, as compared to an average episode in 2013. The report has some interesting tidbits about genres (true crime being the #1), formats, listening habits, and age group of listeners. I wish the study covered the topic of podfasters — people…
