President Trump bans US transactions with TikTok and WeChat starting September 20

The order could also affect Tencent's operations in the US

The past few months have seen a global crackdown on applications owned by companies based in China, almost entirely due to political backlash at the country, rather than concerns over data privacy. India has now banned over a hundred China-made applications, most notably including TikTok, and now the United States is following suit.

President Trump signed two executive orders today, focusing primarily on WeChat and TikTok. The order affecting TikTok claims the app records "browsing and search histories," even though there doesn't appear to be any public evidence of that.

Mi A series discontinued, end of Xiaomi Android One devices

Xiaomi is leaving the Android One project as it terminates the Mi A series. The Mi A series was popular for having a stock Android feel and competitive pricing.

Xiaomi Mi A3 will be the last in the Mi A series

Goodbye Xiaomi Mi A series

You heard that right. Xiaomi will no longer manufacture pocket-friendly, Android One devices. That means that there will not be a Mi A4 anymore.

Speculations about the reason for discontinuation point to Xiaomi having trouble providing timely software updates to its devices. The Android One project aims to provide fast and longer update support to devices but the Mi A series usually gets them late.

The last one was the Xiaomi Mi A3 with a 6.08-inch Gorilla Glass 5 protected HD+ AMOLED screen, 2.0GHz Snapdragon 665 octa-core processor, Adreno 610 GPU, 4GB LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, 4,030mAh battery, 48MP triple cameras, and 32MP selfie camera.

Xiaomi was not the first one to move away from Android One though. Motorola has been steering away from the program with its latest releases. The company opted for pure Android with some features added instead.

HMD Global is now the only major manufacturer that is sticking with Android One.

Google discontinues the Pixel 4 and 4 XL before releasing the Pixel 5

Possibly the shortest life of any Pixel or Nexus

Google has just teased its new flagship Pixel 5 (and the Pixel 4a 5G), but the Pixel 4 remains the only high-end phone the company currently sells. After the Pixel 4a launch event, we noticed that the Pixel 4 started disappearing from the Google Store, with its status flip-flopping between available and sold out. The most damning evidence we found is a Google support page that says the Pixel 4 is no longer available in the US.
