Samsung shipped 6.7 million 5G smartphones in 2019, Galaxy Tab S6 5G is coming

Even if we are still in the early stages of the 5G revolution, Samsung managed to shipped a lot of smartphones with the said next-generation connectivity tech.

Number 1 in 5G phones shipped last year

Samsung today announced that in 2019, the company shipped a total of 6.7 million Galaxy smartphones with 5G connectivity in 2019.

In particular, Samsung got 53.9 percent of the global 5G smartphone market as of November 2019, an early lead against the competition.

Currently, Samsung has a total of 5 5G devices in its portfolio. It includes the Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note10 5G, Galaxy Note10+ 5G, Galaxy A90 5G, and Galaxy Fold 5G.

More 5G devices next year

For Samsung, 2020 will be the year of Galaxy 5G and we are excited to bring 5G to even more device categories and introduce people to mobile experiences they never thought possible.

Samsung stressed that 2020 is the year of 5G and it will introduce more 5G capable devices with "mobile experiences they never thought possible".

The South Korean giant confirmed that one fo them is the Galaxy Tab S6 5G and it will be the world's first 5G tablet. It added that the tablet will come with a premium display, multimedia capabilities, and the speed of 5G connectivity designed to offer high-quality video conferencing, as well as a premium experience for watching live and pre-recorded video streams or playing cloud and online games with friends.

As of writing, the 5G smartphone market is still small. It only contributed to 1 percent of the global smartphone sales in 2019. But Samsung reported that in 2020, 5G smartphones are predicted to grow by 1,687 percent or 18 percent of the total global smartphone sales.
