Tech giant Huawei held the Huawei Film Awards to showcase the gift and talent of Filipinos. During the program, numerous videos were shown such as short films from esteemed directors Pepe Diokno and Sid Maderazo. Aside from that, the music video of Reese Lansangan launched the Huawei's CSR documentary by Lyka Gonzalez.

Last year, the Huawei Mate 30 Series became a huge success that started this film awards. The purpose of this Asia Pacific festival is to commend shots using any Huawei device and support talented Filipinos. The filmmakers are equipped with innovative smartphones so they can widen their work scope.

By Mate 30 Series, Huawei is continuing to empower the users worldwide to discover new ways of expressing themselves through art. Works of art were accomplished with the use of Huawei’s Mate 30 Pro 40MP Cine Camera. This particular device supports a variety of shooting modes, ideal for aspiring filmmakers.

Even Pepe  Diokno explained why he finds the Mate 30 Pro commendable since it was the primary device used for his short film "Things". He explained,

We shot the whole film from morning until night and the battery lasted the whole day. We were shocked that we didn't have to charge while shooting! Every single frame was shot using the Mate 30 Pro and we didn’t add anything else and the results were just amazing!

Moreover, commercial director Sid Maderazo expressed his opinion regarding film making evolution. He further explained,

The high-end cameras obviously have a lot of advantages with big lenses, but I think we're going in the right direction. Witnessing and using the phone for me opens a lot of possibilities and seeing the films by Lyka and Pepe, and to think that everything was shot using a gadget that can fit inside your pocket is just mind-blowing! And coming from film, that is something else.

What are your thoughts about the concept of using smartphones for film making?
