Huawei has finally launched its latest Gen Z-centric smartphone and newest member of its Y series, the Y7a.
The Huawei Y7a features a 6.67-inch 2.5D curved LCD display with center-aligned punch-hole, 2.2GHz 14nm Kirin 710A octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB expandable storage, and 5,000mAh battery.
It boasts a stunning 48MP quad-cam, 8MP selfie cam, side-mounted fingerprint reader, and loads Android 10 OS with EMUI 10.1 skin.
Let's check it out!
Unboxing/Accessories
Huawei Y7a arrives in the usual Chinese smartphone giant's clean white box with a preview of the smartphone printed on it. Inside, you can find the smartphone, 22.5W fast charger, USB type-A to USB Type-C cable, documentation, and SIM ejector tool.
There are no any 3.5mm earphones and clear case included in the package.
Build Quality/Design
The unit that was loaned to us is the Crush Green variant. It has a glossy, mirror-like polycarbonate frame. The back panel is made of glasstic material while the front panel is made of glass.
The down side of the back panel's design is that it's a hairline and fingerprint magnet. As always, I recommend putting on a case right a way to keep the back panel safe from any fingerprint traces.
Huawei Y7a's quad-camera setup, flash and branding are all placed at the back panel.
In front is the Y7a's impressive 6.67-inch 2.5D curved LCD display with a center-aligned punch-hole. Its FHD+ 2400 x 1080 resolution gave me a vibrant and bright screen. Additionally, it has enough deep blacks.
Huawei Y7a has round sides and edges with flat top and bottom design. There's nothing on top except for its first mic out of two.
At the bottom you'll find the 3.5mm headphone jack slot, second mic out of two, USB-C port, and grille speakers.
The triple slot tray sits alone on the left side of the handset. Meanwhile, the volume rockers and power button + side fingerprint scanner in one are all on the right side.
Generally, Huawei Y7a is easy on the hands and rests well on the palm.
At the back of the smartphone is its quad camera setup of 48MP f/1.8 + 8MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 macro + 2MP f/2.4 depth along with the LED flash. Its camera has the following in-app modes: photo, video, portrait, night, aperture, pro, slow-mo, panorama, light painting, HDR, time-lapse, moving picture (live), stickers, super macro, and high-res.
We will talk more about the camera and share camera samples in our full review soon.
