As discovered by 9to5Google and confirmed in a Google support listing, the Pixel 5 automatically switches on Battery Share after the phone is connected to power via USB-C. This effectively turns it into a smart wireless charging pad.
Yes, it’s a tiny addition, but often it’s these minute details that result in positive user experiences. Google’s stance on reverse wireless charging differs from the likes of Huawei and Samsung. Both firms force users to manually switch on reverse wireless charging, even when plugged in. The Pixel 5 simplifies this process.

Reverse wireless charging doesn’t remain on if unneeded, either. The Pixel 5 switches it off after a period if no charging device is detected.
